My approach is influenced by eastern and western philosophies, non-dualism, Buddhism, Zen and spirituality.

Sometimes life can be very stressful due to a variety of barriers. Things like anxiety, depression or grief can interrupt our lives and lead to despair. Oftentimes as humans, we have this feeling that we are alone in this despair and that nobody can help us. Negative thoughts and feelings about ourselves can lead to poor self-esteem and isolation from those we love, as well as difficulties in our relationships and priorities from school to career. I believe we as humans all have the capacity to achieve our goals and transform into our best version of ourselves, and therapy can be the first step to achieving these goals!

My professional expertise is primarily rooted on establishing a positive rapport with the client. The individual's needs are of paramount importance when trying to establish said connection. I don't believe much in theoretical concepts but rather in how the dynamics are presented between the dyad when processing and dealing with sensitive personal issues, which ultimately may help us to develop a stage of psychological balance and emotional fulfillment.

The Second Wind is a small group practice specializing in mental health and substance abuse treatment. All therapists are LCSW's with several years experience. We believe treatment focuses on assisting patients in relieving the constraints to actualizing potential. In order to do this effectively, our therapists have extensive post graduate experience and training. Therapy is a collaborative effort between patient and therapist.

Ati Egas is a licensed psychotherapist in the State of New York with trainings in Brasil, Paris and Mexico. She combines her expertise in relational dynamics and life transitions with her love for entrepreneurial projects. She came to psychotherapy after the death of her mother. She learned about endings and beginnings then. Her own growth takes from close encounters to shamanic practices in Ecuador, quantic medicine as well as training in leadership and strategy for startups and emerging businesses. Ati believes that the each story carries the possibility of something greater.

For over 20 years, I have worked with a diverse population of adults including those who are HIV+ and with the LGBTQ community. My style is highly empathic and non-judgmental and my approach combines elements from Humanistic and Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing and EFT. I have experience treating individuals with depression, anxiety, OCD, chronic illness, eating disorders and those with a history of trauma and PTSD. I have additional training in Brainspotting, an evidence-based form of psychotherapy developed by David Grand, PhD, in 2003 that evolved from EMDR and Somatic Processing.
