My treatment style incorporates psychodynamic & solution-focused frameworks as well as EMDR.
Choosing a therapist can be super overwhelming. It’s my goal to make the therapy process feel easy & comfortable. I give you the space to heal whether you need a little extra support or are in a time of major crisis or change. I specialize in supporting those who are navigating relationships, dating, complex family dynamics, career stressors, & those who don’t know where to begin but know they want to feel better. I use a directive, collaborative, & nonjudgemental approach to help identify patterns that no longer serve you and help you get “unstuck”. I will always be real with you and support you through warmth, empathy, and humor.

Some techniques I use are EMDR, mindfulness-based cognitive therapies, and somatic resourcing such as yoga to assist with connecting to your mind, body, and spirit.
Have you felt the rawness of isolation and the storm of complex struggles taking over your mind, body, and spirit? As a holistic trauma-informed psychotherapist, I am dedicated to treating your nervous system. Through working together, we will be able to unpack deep-rooted emotions, address where they first began to appear in your life, and help you pour into watering your overall wellbeing. I do this by holding space in a non-judgmental and inclusive environment. My expertise includes working with survivors of sexual trauma, however I work with all origins of emotional pain derived from the many interwoven facets of trauma.

I am cetified in several Psychodynamic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Gestalt therapy.
I have had significant success helping clients deal with issues such as relationships, loss, aging, trauma, body image, career development, stress management, depression, anxiety, illness, personal growth and what I call "behavioral decluttering", ( illiminating old and unwanted behaviors). My style as a therapist is to help clients identify those areas of their lives which are most troubling and then develop specific goals to ensure that therapy produces important life changing results. The ultimate goal is for clients to eventually serve as their own therapists, applying what they learned in therapy to lead more fulfilling lives.

My training includes Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), parts work (from structural dissociation models), mind-body techniques, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and some shamanic interventions.
I am grateful to be a guide to people coping with different life challenges: depression, anxiety, loss, traumatizing events, relationship problems, etc. Collaborating with a professional who can both understand you ("get you") and help you find solutions to problems can be transformative. Exploring how to build upon strengths and find new ways of coping with life challenges is an opportunity to take charge. Therapy is a great tool for this empowerment. I have an open-minded, non-judgmental style and am committed to helping others explore making changes in their situations within a safe, respectful environment. I can help.

It includes EMDR, mindfulness, psychodynamic, and relational psychotherapy.
You can live a life that excites you. Do past events seem to be affecting you in the present day? Do you feel as if you are re-experiencing past trauma or currently going through angst? It can always get better no matter how difficult your situation appears to be. Peeling the layers of trauma takes courage, strength, and inner power. You may be struggling with intrusive thoughts, guilt, and wondering what you can do differently. If you’re looking to release the grip of trauma and have a better quality of life, let’s work together to explore what may be affecting you and find ways for you to move past it.

I am a psychodynamically trained psychotherapist and have worked with adults and children for 18 years around issues that include PTSD, trauma, relationship problems, employment concerns, parenting questions, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety. I have found that talking can greatly reduce stress and distress and can lead to significant change. People tend to find immediate relief after beginning the process. I also practice Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help people work through traumas and areas where they are stuck in their lives.

One specific tool I use to accomplish these goals when trauma is at play is EMDR.
Something happened – something scary and overwhelming – and life hasn’t been the same since. You find yourself avoiding close relationships or social events because you just can’t tolerate the fear that they trigger. You notice that you’re much more reactive than you used to be – loud noises, sudden movements, unexpected events – they all provoke a burst of anxiety. And no matter your intention, no matter how much time passes, you keep reacting, you stay hypervigilant, you look for danger everywhere. When this goes on for some time, it’s easy to become despondent, overwhelmed, and exhausted. This doesn’t feel okay – not anymore.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
