Together we work to create a calm, safe, non-judgmental atmosphere that allows you the freedom to express yourself. It's not always easy to speak about problems or painful pasts or, at times, current situations, but careful empathetic listening and gentle inquiry make it possible to begin to explore feelings and behaviors and eventually to gain insights that facilitate changes. I have worked successfully with a diversity of individuals with a range of concerns and issues, including interpersonal difficulties, depression , anxiety, and relationship/family issues, and trauma.

I have over 20 years of psychoanalytic and psychotherapeutic experience in helping individuals and couples improve self-esteem, relationship, and work-related issues that lead to personal change. If you are battling anxiety, depression , or simply overwhelmed, helping you spell out what you feel can make a huge difference. Sometimes the words to describe your feelings are not there. Just finding a way to express what you feel and want can be restorative. I can help you find the words to articulate your needs, clarify your dilemmas, and, in so doing, clear the roadblocks that get in the way of reaching your full potential.

I enjoy what I do and specialize in the treatment of depression , trauma, relationships, anxiety, and substance abuse.
Vitality, growth, love, empathy, and meaning are essential to healthy functioning and a sense of well-being. We often create these gratifying experiences through an authentic and positive connection with ourselves and others. However, sometimes these connections are hindered due to difficult life experiences, such as loss of a loved one, career and life transitions, addiction, divorce, or relationship concerns. These struggles can lead to feeling down, isolated, anxious, and confused about how to move forward. I am here to help.

I have particular expertise working with all kinds of depression including PPD, work stress, relationship issues, the trauma of divorce and all that implies, and how to best deal with crossroads and transitions in our lives.
Without our realizing it we repeat behavior that can make our lives such a puzzle to us and those around us. It hurts, and we feel stuck. Underlying issues really do influence what we do and how we feel. And these days reality can be overwhelming.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
