My clinical approach is interactive and integrates contemporary psychoanalytic theory with other approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practice and Somatic Experiencing, a mind/body-based trauma resolution method that works directly with the nervous system -- where all mental health symptoms reside - to resolve symptoms and promote emotional healing.
As a therapist I am privileged to help. I provide a space where clients can rediscover or develop authentic selves and deepen emotional connections with others. I enable clients to recognize how thoughts, beliefs and values affect relationships and to consider new ways of being in the world; to develop healthier adaptive strategies when facing problems, and to work through past and present trauma, grief, and losses.Psychotherapy does not have to be painful - it can be a safe, creative, and playful process of strengthening one's health and well-being.

As a Psychotherapist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I integrate touch modalities when appropriate with Somatic Experiencing to help in healing trauma and chronic traumatic stress.
Therapy is helpful when something in your life challenges your ability to live deeply and fully. In our work together we address what is in your way. It might be anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues, chronic stress, illness, trauma or something else unique to your history. Life presents many challenges, and finding the right support when you need it can make a huge difference. Everyone has the capacity to live with more clarity, connectedness and joy, and it's my pleasure to assist in enabling that.

In addition to this relational way of practicing, I sprinkle in evidence-based and somatic interventions throughout our sessions to bolster your daily toolkit in order to reduce the severity of your symptoms and augment your sense of self-efficacy.
I approach therapy with curiosity, connection, insight, acceptance, compassion, and a splash of humor. I aim to create an environment where you can feel safe to explore, discover and embrace your truest and best self. I believe an essential task of therapy is to foster reflection in order to develop self-awareness, leading to a greater ability to adaptively and effectively navigate life. I primarily practice therapy through a relational and attachment-based psychodynamic lens. I believe that the relationship dynamics you have with yourself and with others are the primary factors in both emotional well-being and emotional distress.

My skills come from significant training in: Relational psychoanalytic therapy, Trauma focused modalities informed by brain research (incl EMDR, IFS and other somatic interventions), Family systems, Couples therapy, Mindfulness and CBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy).
Regardless of what you are dealing with, I believe in the potential to harness your inner resources to heal and grow. Connecting deeply with the right therapist can help you get to where you want to be. When you become more aware of what is going on consciously and unconsciously in your mind and body, you can be more effectual, less anxious and/or depressed, and have more energy and joy in your life. As I get to know you and we create a safe and meaningful relationship, we can make fundamental changes that will have a lasting effect.

I blend both Western psychotherapies, such as Internal Family Systems, with Eastern practices like Yoga, Meditation, and Somatic work.
Imagine feeling less shame and more connected to those around you. Imagine having more space from your inner critic/judge while having more patience and compassion for yourself and others. Imagine moving from perceptions of “not good enough” to feeling more "whole". Feeling less confused and more confident and clear about yourself and important life goals/decisions. Imagine unburdening from past traumas that still negatively impact your life and present relationships, shifting from helplessness to empowerment and healing from painful past hurts and moving forward with more connection, clarity, love, compassion and safety.

"Soul loss" is what we go through when our early wounds and traumas tie up our energy for living freely and joyfully. I can help you retrieve your lost energy and rewire old patterns, so you can more fully embody who you were meant to be. Pain is often an invitation to learn more about our feelings so we can evolve and expand. I use a mind-body approach ( somatic experiencing/ gestalt) with a relational lens (psychodynamic/ Jungian) and energy healing. If you feel stuck after years of talk therapy, I can help. I see children, adolescents, adults, couples & families and I practice online in Manhattan, New Jersey and California.

I offer somatic psychotherapy sessions, which means that I work with both the body and the mind.
I would like to offer my help to anyone who struggles with the current global situation. Right now many of us are struggling with increased stress and anxiety, as well as heavy emotions that might be coming up from unprocessed experiences from the past. Understanding the ways our nervous system and body handle stress and trauma can be very helpful in finding our way through the storm.

I specialize in attachment-focused EMDR therapy, although draw from other modalities (relational, mindfulness, somatic ) depending on my client's needs.
I primarily work with those who may be experiencing the impacts of trauma, life transitions, interpersonal difficulties, and anxiety. I also often work with other therapists experiencing burnout or compassion fatigue. I take a thorough look at my client's environment, background and experiences from a young age to present day. I consider the therapeutic relationship to be the highest indicator of progress in therapy. Without a strong rapport between therapist and client, safety doesn't exist. I take a holistic approach with each of my clients, tailoring treatment to their unique needs.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
