Warmth, genuine connection, and empathy define my approach to therapy. I believe deeply in the power of every person's life story as a tool to educate, heal, and connect with others. I am committed to providing therapeutic care that promotes introspective growth and engenders self acceptance. I work from a psychodynamic perspective, focusing upon maladaptive patterns of thought and behavior and encouraging insight to understand the root of such patterns. Above all, I hope to help patients feel safe and understood in a non-judgmental environment.

After 25 years of experience, I've learned that successful psychotherapy begins with a genuine collaborative relationship and connection with my clients - one formed in an environment of trust and safety, but with enough challenge to promote change. I work from a psychodynamic and relational perspective, actively engaging with you to explore issues including relationship and career difficulties, anxiety, depression, self -esteem, as well as addictive behaviors such as eating disorders. I integrate behavioral strategies (CBT), life coaching techniques, and mindfulness practices as needed. I want my clients to know themselves better, be able to explore new options, and learn the tools needed to change.

One of my three lively groups, online or in-person, can help you with community, self esteem , and emotional intimacy.
You may want help with your closest relationships, or with your creative work, or with your job, or because you seek a sense of meaning, or of community. Perhaps you want to change your own behavior, but have not been able to make that change happen. You may be the adult child of a narcissistic mother or father who sees that you are still affected by your parent's problems. You may have heard or read something about Jungian therapy that appealed to you. Perhaps you have tried CBT and now want to work more in depth. You probably want relief from some form of pain or isolation.

“I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing" is what I hear from so many of my clients. The world can be overwhelming. We want to change, but we don’t know how to get there. We feel lost and disconnected and finding a way forward in a dark tunnel without a light can be daunting. This can be even more complex if we struggle with mental health challenges or have been raised in environments that have contributed to trauma. I offer a safe, trauma-informed, and exploratory counseling relationship in a space where you can discover what thriving looks like for you and that puts your needs, hopes, and dreams first.

My specialties include low- self esteem , anxiety, depression and relationship issues.
I like to think that life is like writing a story. There are times where you know exactly what direction you want to take the story; the path seems so clear. Other times, you sit there for hours with nothing to write at all. The path becomes blurry and you might even forget how to take the next step. My goal as a therapist is to help you clear the path of all the blurriness. You deserve to live the life that you desire, and it’s very common to run into obstacles that make the journey difficult or discouraging. I help clients get unstuck and move forward, allowing for a newfound freedom to find enjoyment and meaning in daily life.

I am often described as a warm, empathic person who creates a comfortable, supportive, and safe therapeutic environment. Unlike the distant, silent psychoanalyst stereotype, I am a real person in the room. I respond to what you tell me, ask questions, and will even share a laugh with you. My approach is based on the premise that relationships are essential in shaping who we are as people and how we experience the world.

I provide a safe place in which you can reveal, explore, understand and heal. It is often a painful crisis that starts the therapeutic venture; the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, a frightening illness, children leaving home. Along with mourning what's lost, there is an opportunity to regroup and redfine one's priorities. I help clients find resilience in the face of life's challenges.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
