The core of my practice revolves around the reality that transitions, especially around starting, growing and managing a family can present a multitude of challenges, and that therapy can help both individuals and families develop strategies to not only cope with difficulties, but also learn to thrive. Across the life span, my expertise with issues such as attachment, anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal relationships in both individual and family therapy enables my patients to identify underlying patterns, navigate transitions, and craft more satisfying experiences.
Many young adults struggle with mental health or substance use issues but are reluctant to seek treatment because they’re afraid of being stigmatized. I will provide a non-judgmental space and personalized treatment plans so people can experience the deep healing they need to become the best versions of themselves. I work extensively in the field of addiction and understand the vulnerabilities of those who struggle with substance use. I additionally specializes in complex trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and stress-management. I will take a holistic, therapeutic approach to help you take back control of your life.
I believe that everyone has the ability to grow and achieve their goals. Sometimes it's harder than others. I work with people who want to cultivate real change in their lives, whether that's learning to manage depression or anxiety, getting along better with other people or their partners, or helping them accomplish that career goal they desire. I believe that establishing a good connection with my clients and creating manageable and growth-oriented goals can lead to lasting positive change.
My goal is to help relieve the anxiety, panic, depression and/or interpersonal conflicts that interfere with the realization of your hopes, dreams and aspirations. This goal is attainable when we work together as a problem solving team. The study and practice of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) has been my passion for more than 30 years. I have worked successfully with individuals (adults, adolescents, and children) as well as couples and families.
Seeking help for oneself can be challenging. That’s why we provide a strengths-based, calming, caring, supportive atmosphere that allows people to engage in the therapeutic or consultation process from a place of acceptance, peace and clarity. We want our clients to feel understood and valued for who they are, even if they have made life choices that did not have the most positive outcome. We are committed to helping our clients live a life that gives them a sense of pride and assurance that who they are, is all they need to be!
Self-awareness is a path to healing, recovery, transformation and personal success. In my clinical work I offer a safe and supportive space, where you can develop self-understanding and new ways of coping that will help you to work through your struggles that otherwise make you feel stuck, frustrated, humiliated and unfulfilled. Awareness implies that one has control over, choice of, and responsibility for one's own feelings, thoughts and actions. In your self-discovery you will find opportunity for change in a natural way.
Let’s prioritize your wants, needs and desires. Therapy is a space where you get to receive the attention you may have not been gifting yourself. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, battling depression or self-esteem related issues, Lgbtqpia+ challenges or any other stressors life creates, I am certain we can collaboratively work together towards a living that is self-serving and on your terms.
Once we agree on establishing a therapeutic relationship and goals, we use the interaction between you and me to understand the patterns of your behavior which hinder you from achieving your dreams and accomplishments. We recognize and understand how your behavior, thoughts and coping patterns maintain your difficulties. By assisting you in connecting to a richer spectrum of feelings and wishes towards yourself you will expand those toward the people that are important to you. Guiding you through active participation and understanding of your history, relationships with your spouse, parents and others will become more satisfying.

Therefore, this is my pledge to you: I will welcome you into treatment with compassion, professional competence, and a sincere sensitivity to the specific circumstances motivating you to seek therapy at this time. As a potential client, your individuality is always valued and the thoughts you share are respected unconditionally and held without judgment as we navigate the complexities of today's world and assist you to attain what you're seeking in life.
I have been a psychotherapist for over twenty-five years. During that time many people have passed through my office on their way to changing their lives. I believe that I have been effective in assisting them to resolve conflicts and help them become more of who they hoped they could be. I approach people with opening questions and strive to identify and understand their uniqueness. I like to believe that I support the creative development of their selves.
I'm a licensed psychologist and I’ve been doing this for over 25 years. I know how important it is to have a therapist who will listen and not judge. My style is conversational, educational, and non-judgmental. My role is to help get you back on track. Meeting a new therapist can be scary. Will Michael understand me and will he be able to help me? These are all very normal concerns. The only way to know for sure is to contact me. I am here. Believe me, I understand how opening up to someone and letting your guard down can be scary. But, something is making you think about seeing a new therapist, allow me to offer you some support.
I am available as a well-trained clinical therapist to work with you on difficult life issues and managing problematic transitions. You are likely overthinking/overanalyzing situations without finding any satisfying resolutions to your problems. When too many unresolved issues related to feeling frustrated, disappointed and stuck leads to emotional suffering, it is time to consider working with a therapist. My approach to therapy is to help you reflect on your current issues which is sometimes (but not always) linked to unresolved childhood family issues. The past can have an unwanted impact over ones' life as functioning adults.
I’m here to work collaboratively with you to start making the changes in your thoughts and behaviors that will allow you to feel relief and be present for yourself. My treatment modality includes drawing from mindfulness-based techniques as well as advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches. We will work to expose and challenge your unhealthy or negative thoughts in order to get you feeling better, fast! Through incorporating psychotherapy homework into your week, you will learn how to improve your mood without my help.
Together you and I will pinpoint your main issues and goals. Using a foundation of trust and openness, we will uncover roots of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are not serving you so that you may heal and grow to a fuller potential. I make it a priority to treat each person as an individual, with a unique history and specific needs. My style is nonpathologizing. Psychotherapy is not about delving into sickness, but rather about becoming aware of how competent, capable, and amazing you really are.
For kids and adults, I provide individual counseling. For adults who suspect they're autistic, I do autism evaluations that are neurodiversity-affirming. And for parents looking for tools to decrease their child's anxiety, I'm a trained provider in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions).
If you are feeling stuck, getting your life back can be overwhelming. But there is hope. My practice focuses on working with you to build insight into patterns that have kept you stuck, and find direction to move forward. Together, we can build tools for leading a life that feels whole for you.
I enjoy working with people struggling through periods of transition. While much of my experience has been with people recovering from medical illness, I'm also comfortable working with people who are at any turning point in life -- or who would like to reach a point of change or growth.
