You don't have to have it all figured out to start. You just have to be willing to look a little closer. I work with high-achieving professionals - attorneys, physicians, executives, finance professionals, military members and their families, veterans, and Foreign Service members - alongside survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and childhood abuse. I work with women navigating male-dominated fields, people carrying generational trauma, and individuals and couples struggling with intimacy, desire, sexuality and financial challenges. If you've been the strong one in every room for too long, you're in the right place.

Welcome to my practice. I believe that reaching out for help is a brave first step in the process of improving your life. I have been working with adults, adolescents and children for over 20 years Some of the the problems I treat are difficulties with mood regulation, anxiety, depression, reproductive issues, loss, relationship issues, school difficulties, sibling issues and parent-child struggles. I've seen that patterns of painful living can be greatly improved when we achieve a more balanced life.

Life comes with joy and pain, love and anger, accomplishments and mess-ups, and sometimes confusion. The times when we struggle and feel stuck or confused as individuals, as couples & as parents are often signals that it’s time to grow. I work collaboratively with my clients and have great success utilizing techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as Narrative and Psychodynamic therapy to treat trauma, anxiety, panic, depression, grief and eating disorders. I also work with individuals, couples and families facing every day parenting, life and relationship challenges.

In practice I use a pragmatic, results-oriented approach and am not tethered to one particular psychoanalytic modality. Rather, recognizing each patient has unique needs, I draw from many therapeutic approaches that best fit each patient. In my practice, I can quickly assess which techniques will work best to meet each client's individual needs to show patients that they can have the right tools to reach their optimal comfort level in their careers, families, and relationships. The goal is bridging the gap and finding the most productive pathway between where clients are and where they want to be.

Many people come to therapy when life feels heavy, confusing, or stuck. You may long for change but feel unsure of how to move. My work is about gently opening space for healing and growth by deepening the quality of your relationships with yourself, with others, and with life itself. Relationships can take many forms: your connection to food, your body, sexuality, work, or money. Each carries meaning, and each can be a doorway to greater freedom. With a holistic, healing centered approach, I help people soften painful patterns, honor their stories, and create new ways of relating.

Starting therapy can be overwhelming and scary, but together, we can work on figuring out where you want to go and remove the roadblocks in the way. I strive to help you find empowerment in your story by understanding how where you've been has led to where you are now. I use the relationship between my client and myself as a laboratory for exploration and development of the self.

Trained in short and long-term therapy, I help people find new solutions to on-going problems in relationships, in work, or creativity, and in navigating life transitions. Life is full of transitions, sometimes unrecognized as times of emotional upheaval. Even positive changes can cause significant stress (marriage, starting a family, promotions and retirement). Whether you are experiencing a painful time (loss and grief) or a time of change and uncertainty, psychotherapy can allow for a better understanding of your self and others. We can't change what we don't know.

Clients or their families typically present with concerns about ADHD, learning disabilities, and autism. They are interested on getting a diagnosis to help them better understand themselves, to access services like ABA, or to help their therapist fine tune their approach. They are interested in getting documentation for accommodations during their classes and during exams like the SAT, ACT, LSAT, MCAT, GRE, USMLE, or MBE. Ideal patients are motivated to work together with me to find answers that make sense and strategies that they can actually use in daily life.

You've been figuring this out on your own for as long as you can remember. There's the wine that helps you sleep. The partner you can't quite leave. The mother who lives a thousand miles away and somehow still makes your body afraid in a room she isn't in. Whether or not you recognize childhood abuse or neglect, its effects show up subtly. You might feel a loss of control, carry deep self-doubt, or constantly put others first to your own detriment. And lately you've started to wonder how much longer you can do that before something underneath finally gives. Healing begins with understanding your experience.

Many of us have had problems leaving us anxious, depressed, isolated. Helping someone feel less alone in their pain and conflicts I find deeply rewarding. My starting point is where you are and our discovering the origin of these issues. I provide psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and work with a variety of clients from adults with jobs in tech, finance, and law industries to artists. Additionally, I work with couples in improving communication and conflict resolution skills. Attending to relationship dynamics and your family histories, I guide couples to address each partner’s attachment needs and facilitate true emotional engagement.

Joy, calm, connection and hope make life feel worthwhile. Day to day difficulties can be tolerated as part of a richer experience. Adversity is borne through reliance on trusted coping skills. These are common aspirations but through the relationships that created us, circumstances that overwhelm or appetites that never feel satisfied, pain can seem too great, love unattainable and life timid. In assisting people to see how previously valid ways of living and relating may no longer be helpful and in exploring thinking that may not have lead to the desired results, my aim is to draw out people's unique resilience to foster change.

If you're feeling down, anxious, or overwhelmed, it may be because managing the day-to-day minutiae of our busy schedules often leaves little space to register our emotional experiences until they hit a fever pitch. Although many of us adapt by pushing the pain into the background much of the time, these hidden disappointments, hurts, and resentments don't disappear; they grow and can fester. Creating a safe place to process this pain is vital, and can free us to realize and accomplish our goals.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Tudor City?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
