Above all, therapy is a place to be your real, authentic self. Through the use of highly effective evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we will create strategies for empowering you to take control of your thoughts and behaviors, and let go of the negative patterns that no longer serve you.

I have worked with individuals with a variety of mental health issues, which includes depression, anxiety , behavioral issues, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, and personality disorders.
I feel therapy is a process between the therapist and client to explore and understand what the client is experiencing, to come up with coping skills that best fits them and their circumstances. I feel therapy should also be a place where the client is provided a safe, judgement-free, insightful, and empathic environment. Anyone can be capable of healing and building resiliency to a better life.

When you live in a society that actively oppresses the people that look like you, it is very easy to experience low self-esteem & negative self-talk fueled by anxiety , guilt & shame. You may also feel like you have to work twice as hard to please everyone around you, which leads to constant exhaustion & burnout. There are probably a lack of appropriate boundaries in many of your relationships, which can cause feelings of deep resentment, anger & rage. In short, you get caught up in unsustainable patterns that take you further away from living a fulfilled life. If you struggle with any of these issues then you are not alone.

Feeling understood, supported, listened to, like you belong – some of the most basic things human beings need, are often overlooked, unappreciated and unavailable from those around them. My therapeutic approach is the same as my approach on life: to provide those around me with a place where they can feel like themselves, while working on themselves. In a safe and open space, we will work together to conquer your anxiety , depression, mood instability, relationships, trauma, eating, communication, work, life stressors & overall mental health while tailoring each session and treatment to the individual patient’s needs.

Making changes in your life and in how you are feeling is hard. Past experiences can linger and make it difficult to live how you would like to in the present. Anxiety , depression, past trauma, work stress, and difficulties in relationships can undermine our ability to create the life we'd like for ourselves. My goal is to help individuals and couples understand their feelings and actions in order to make changes that will allow them to live a happier and more fulfilled life. I provide a space where you can fully express everything that might be getting pushed aside in the day to day or feels overwhelming to handle alone.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
