I offer a number of interventions based on the specific goals and needs of each person such as dialectical behavior therapy or DBT, cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, most commonly known as EMDR, cognitive processing therapy or CPT for PTSD, somatic experiencing, and mindfulness practices.
People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. When I initially meet with people and ask "what brings you in?" they often say "I'm feeling stuck, stressed, angry, in my head, can't sleep, or having trouble with relationships." If you've been feeling any of these things, you're not alone and I commend you for even considering therapy. It's not an easy step to take, but one that's well worth it because things can get better. I'm a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with people who face challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, addiction, and attention and concentration.

I have advanced training in relational psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, along with Somatic Experiencing, which I draw on to help clients develop more curiosity and compassion for themselves.
I engage in genuine empathic relationships with my clients in order to provide a safe foundation for the collaborative and challenging process of psychotherapy. Our work together focuses on understanding and working through difficult feelings and powerful beliefs which are leaving them feeling stuck. I enjoy helping clients reconnect with their inner resources and creativity in order to engage more fully in relationships and work.

Do you want to work with someone with an artistic background who brings a playful spirit to their somatic-based approach? I am a queer artist from Kansas City, who now calls Bushwick home. I had a therapist many years ago who introduced me to queer-affirmative therapy and it made me realize that having a queer therapist with a shared lived experience and identity allowed me to lean into the therapy without the fear of being judged or having to explain myself. This newfound chapter in my journey as a client motivated me to make the investment into training so that I could provide the same for others as a therapist.

Perhaps you're curious if the growing field of psychedelic-assisted therapy could help you find the change you are seeking. If so, you've come to the right place. I specialize in helping people find the breakthroughs they desire through an eclectic approach, including trauma-based therapy, somatic parts work, and psychedelic assisted therapy (currently utilizing ketamine).

I work from a trauma-focused, strengths-based somatic and relational perspective to help you release shame via self-compassion. I view even the coping mechanisms that make us feel the most stuck as examples of our bodies’ incredible resiliency & drive to keep us safe. Within the therapeutic dynamic, I seek to help you identify and unlearn harmful cultural conditioning and, with the courage of authenticity, uncover your own innate wisdom. To me, therapy is a place where we can explore creative self-expression and practice intentional relationship building in order to live more authentic, joyful, and embodied lives.

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and somatic therapist, I am skilled at slowing down therapy to bring awareness to the mind and the body to help you regulate your nervous system, release stuck energy, and help you develop more capacity to be present.

As a black queer non-binary therapist, my ultimate goal is to support you. I have extensive experience providing psychotherapy to LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, and allies. I can be particularly helpful in helping you develop more self-acceptance, more insight, and teach you different tools to support your mental health and wellbeing. Let’s collaborate together and find what works best for you.

I enjoy bringing non-traditional elements into the therapeutic space, incorporating my training in yoga, movement and somatic bodywork.
Sometimes, coping can become exhausting and dull. Maybe what you have been doing is not working anymore, or you are looking for a place to start. When you are overwhelmed with issues of anxiety, struggling in your interpersonal relationships, or with your own identity and sexuality, with no relief, it is time to try something different. I believe so much of the therapeutic process finds success through connection and self-awareness. I aim to co-create a comfortable and open space to explore these challenges and to honor and support you in your decision to prioritize your mental health.

Life happens and challenges come up. Maybe it's old stuff; issues from childhood that are having an impact now or a traumatic event that has not healed. Maybe it's brand new; grieving the loss of a relationship or struggling as a new mother. Maybe there is a feeling of being stuck and needing guidance and support to find a new way. My approach blends traditional psychotherapy with Somatic Experiencing and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), to resolve current stress, release long-standing emotional and behavioral patterns and develop tools to use outside of therapy.

I fold in somatic work so the mind and the body are addressed.
Are you tired of feeling anxious, exhausted, and burned out? Do you long for a therapist that understands your cultural dynamics and related traumas? Have you been feeling riddled with grief? I believe that inside of you is your best potential waiting to be revealed to you. We are first humans before the labels society has given us and I believe we have to first expose our triumphs and ask for help before we can heal our souls. I am a compassionate person who understands the importance of not only feeling heard, but also not being judged. I use a combined therapeutic approach that is tailored and customized to each of my clients.

Because everyone’s story is unique, my approach is grounded in collaboration and pulls from many different modalities including, but not limited to Internal Family Systems, CBT, EFT, mindfulness, and somatic experience.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a queer therapist, I believe that therapy is different for every individual. My passion for understanding people and relationships has always been driven by curiosity. I primarily work with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples and have experience working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse. As a career changer, my previous career in advertising and fashion informs my extensive experience working with clients in the performing arts and other creative fields.

I teach clients how to use somatic techniques that improve mindfulness, grounding skills, and nervous system regulation.
I'm a therapist that specializes in trauma, C-PTSD and attachment wounding. I utilize a modern, integrative approach to help clients address and process how the trauma and painful events they've been through have negatively impacted their relationship to themselves and others. It can produce a lot of chronic stress and shame to act out this wounding unconsciously and I hope to create a therapeutic relationship that feels safe and resilient enough to explore these sensitive areas of our psyche. Through this work, we can help you quiet the chaos that arises when confronted with our social and emotional triggers.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
