I work with clients who struggle with a broad range of issues that inhibit intimacy in relationships, satisfaction in the workplace as well as a sense of meaning and fulfillment in life. Having trained in both the individual analytic model as well as family systems I view therapy as a collaborative process between therapist and client intending on meeting agreed upon goals. My style is interpersonal and believe that goals are met in the context of a therapeutic
relationship
based on empathy, insight and trust.

Together, we develop an active working
relationship
within the therapy space to facilitate insight, build empathy, alleviate negative mood and ultimately heal
relationship
wounds to build a more secure and satisfying foundation.
My goal is to help you achieve a sense of control over your life, your choices, and your relationships. Oftentimes people come to therapy when they feel dissatisfied with some or all areas of their lives and they can't seem to figure out why or what to do about it. Through empathic listening, warmth, humor, and genuine engagement, I help people gain insight into their unique ways of thinking and operating and then work to build up strong, self-affirming thoughts and compassionate feelings to combat negative patterns. Therapy is hard work, but so worth the investment!

I focus on deepening client/therapist
relationship
through insight, empathy, mindfulness, humor, care, creativity and humanity.
In a career that first began twenty years ago in the Middle East and journeyed to NYC, I have seen clients from every conceivable background who have sought nurturing guidance to face trauma, anxiety, grief and sadness. Often, whether working with men and women suffering from loss or separation, abuse victims, veterans, refugees, or families of substance abusers, I have witnessed that moment of clarity in a client when they realize there is actually hope for a better, more satisfying life. This, I believe, is the essence of therapy and I strive to smooth the path towards and beyond it.

Your usual ways of coping are not working or may be getting in the way. Seeking help from a highly trained and experienced psychotherapist is an important first step. Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
