Stress, anxiety, depression, self esteem and confidence, grief, problem solving, men's and women's issues , sexual concerns, financial conflicts, etc.
I work with individuals and couples for both in-office and online sessions. “The beauty of life is; while we cannot undo what is done; we can see it, understand it, learn from it and change" (J. Edwards). Life presents us with circumstances challenging our relationships and ourselves. Therapy can be a catalyst toward discovery of creative and viable solutions, or in the personal work toward acceptance. Through conflicts, opportunities are created. I work with individuals and couples to discover opportunity and weave growth and maturity into decision-making.

People are complex, with intricate issues and complicated histories. The ideal client for my virtual private practice is someone who is willing to open up and take the time to explain what makes them “tick”, someone who is ready to take a journey of self-discovery and is interested in finding tangible skills to help them with a variety of needs. Change will not happen in one session, but it can start its course…

I truly believe that the essence of being human is resiliency. We all have the ability to survive life’s difficulties, and with focused support and reflection, thriving is possible for anyone. I can help you navigate traumatic losses, self-defeating behaviors, and even exciting opportunities with a strength based perspective. I also believe that chemistry is essential and building on the therapist and client relationship leads to success.

Hi, welcome! I deeply believe in the process of therapy and how reassuring it can be to finally understand exactly why you always feel the way you do. The first few months (or years) of therapy is unlike any other feeling; it can be so transformative to make childhood connections and find language for the story that has been your life. But my question, even before I became a therapist, is what happens next? What happens after you have analyzed and brought awareness to all the patterns? It takes a different curiosity & tolerance to learn to recognize our emotions and create a container for them to fully come up & release.

Finding the right therapist can be anxiety-provoking. Who will be comfortable to talk to? But not only comfortable to talk to, who will actually make insightful contributions that you don't get elsewhere? Who can you trust to find the balance between being supportive as well as challenging at the right times? Finding that balance is what I always aim for, and most people find me easy to talk to, interactive, direct, nuanced and to have a welcome sense of humor.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
