You're in the right place if you experienced trauma earlier in your life AND you're now going through a big change. Despite already trying talk therapy and doing it yourself, you still feel stuck in the same patterns. Your body has specific reactions and sensations to things that you've tried to change. You can't stop thinking about the past. You can feel like the world is too much. What's more, you don't want anyone to know. All of this makes it hard to find help that actually works on a long-term basis.

I integrate trauma -informed evidence-based interventions, including Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, with a therapeutic style grounded in warmth, authenticity, and humor.
Being human is hard. If you are experiencing challenges in your relationships, difficulty coping with negative thoughts and feelings, or feeling disconnected from yourself or your goals, you are not alone. While many of my clients outwardly reflect competence and strength, internally, they may feel isolated, stuck, insecure, or unfulfilled. I help my clients connect with their emotions, make meaning out of past experiences, and build self-trust. My support is founded on building a safe space for my clients to better understand themselves, build inner strength, and start living their lives according to their values.

My specialties fit well for individuals living with cancer, caregivers and loved ones (family and friends) of those living with cancer, bereavement and grief, and trauma and sexual abuse.
What matters most to me as a therapist is to create a comforting, non judgmental space for you to articulate and share your deepest hopes, fears, and thoughts. My practice focuses heavily on compassion, empathy, and warmth to help you feel supported in recognizing and verbalizing what matters most to you. As that clarity emerges, I will help you in your steps forward, to build up your self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-care with renewed confidence and strength.

EMDR, a very helpful eye movement body work modality, may be utilized for trauma resolution and to build confidence in all aspects of your life.
Many of us struggle with the wish to be close to a lover/partner/spouse while simultaneously feeling fearful of risking vulnerability. Past hurts, traumas in childhood or adolescence, negative family messages about sexuality, body image issues, present-day stresses, betrayals of trust, and experiences of loss, may all contribute to this hesitancy. As an AASECT Certified couples and sex therapist, I will work with you individually and/or in couples' sessions to develop a better understanding of what holds you back from experiencing the deeper physical and emotional intimacy you desire.

I'm trained in somatic, experiential, and trauma -informed therapies that engage the wisdom of our emotions and the body to help you heal your trauma , restore your resilience, and enhance your connections with others.
It can be painful to move through life feeling like we're just getting by. Maybe we need more, but feel uncomfortable taking up space. Or we hold back what’s true because we're afraid that our words will only make things worse, but that just makes us feel smaller. We're determined to make changes, but just find ourselves repeating the same unhealthy relationship patterns. Whatever it is, you’re seeking out help because the cost has been high - feeling stuck, drowning in resentment, not being able to let your guard down, or feeling like you’re only a partial version of yourself.

I have experience working with individuals navigating trauma (including familial, religious, racial, immigration, and intergenerational trauma ), disordered eating, body image concerns, relationship issues, experiences of violence, mood disorders, and career related stressors.
Therapy can be a space of transformation, healing, and hope, and this work begins with co-creating a space where you feel comfortable and safe bringing all versions of yourself. In my work with clients, we address the ways in which they feel stuck in their lives and what liberation and contentment means to them. Drawing from my academic, professional, and lived experience, I help individuals navigate identity-based explorations, including gender and sexuality, multiple ethnic/geographical/cultural identities, disability, and neurodivergence.

My approach is anti-oppressive, trauma -informed, sex-positive, and relational, integrating principles of humanistic psychology, psychoanalysis, CBT, and mindfulness.
My practice is inspired by my belief that all people deserve to live fulfilling, free, and pleasurable lives. I work in collaboration with my clients, helping them to achieve these things, as well as whatever contentment looks like for them. I do this from a down-to-earth stance of humility, non-judgment, curiosity, and compassion. Together, we will search beyond stigmatizing labels to pinpoint root causes of symptoms, create a plan for achieving your goals, and develop skills for you to cope with the present. I welcome clients questioning their identities, exploring new avenues to fulfillment, or seeking to heal old wounds.

), I do so through a trauma -informed lens, as that has been my main area of focus and training, both here and abroad (I trained at a refugee center in East Africa).
I usually work from a mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral perspective, in which we examine how your thinking affects your emotions and behaviors. By becoming aware of unhealthy thought patterns, we can learn to think differently; and similarly, change our relationship with the associated negative feelings. I usually work in a more direct manner, giving you concrete tools that you can use to help yourself. Of course, all of this will depend upon you! Each treatment will be a collaborative process, depending on what works best for you.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
