I specialize in working with trauma through traditional talk therapy, EMDR, and expressive interventions.
Gay men and lesbian women face many challenges that are specific to them. It is important to find a therapist that understands your unique experience as a queer person in a culture that promotes heterosexuality as the norm. Whether it's past traumas or internalizing the stigma that we have been exposed to, we all have life events that impact the way we see the world today. For queer people, our worldview may be impacted by our time in the closet, messages we receive from media, and the different communities we belong to.

Using an integrative approach combining talk therapy with EMDR and Flash, I can offer a supportive and compassionate environment to help people make changes and reach their goals with patience, encouragement, and humor.
Whether you survived a traumatic experience, had a significant loss, are struggling with your relationship with food or your body, or are anxious, depressed or maybe you just need support, I can help. To heal from past experiences you need more than catharsis and insight - you need to address the impact of trauma on your mind and body and be given new ways of coping and relating to yourself and the world. That’s where I can help. Along with traditional talk therapy, I offer the most cutting edge, evidence-based therapies to help you heal and to free yourself from what holds your back.

In addition to use of evidence-based treatment modalities, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, somatic therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I place a great deal of importance on the therapeutic relationship itself as a source of trust, collaboration, and commitment.
I believe we each have a core part of ourselves that is wise, confident, and desiring of secure connection with others. Single event or repeated traumatic experiences can distance us from this core part and we can find ourselves using coping mechanisms, such as excessive substance use and other self-harming behaviors, that no longer serve us or our relationships. Identifying the needs we are desperately trying to meet and exploring alternate ways to meet them can disrupt the cycle that keeps us feeling defeated and lead us towards more fulfilling relationships with ourselves and those we care about.

I support Trauma Processing; Harm Reduction for Substance Misuse; Couples Therapy; and Career Development & Changes using various modalities including KAP (ketamine assisted psychotherapy), PHRI, IFS, CBT, EMDR and Gottman Method.
Our cultural emphasis on paid work identity has led to some of us getting stuck continually striving for “more” and feeling starved in other areas like meaning making, community, spirituality and connection. My life experience with trauma, addiction and LGBTQ+ concerns make this work personal for me. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex-positive, inclusive of all identities and enjoy working with clients in every life stage. My professional and personal experiences allow me to have deep empathy for those who are facing major life challenges such as trauma, substance misuse, divorce, career change, chronic health issues and loss.

My background in disciplines including Sensorimotor psychotherapy and EMDR make for a deep and engaging treatment experience that goes beyond intellectual insight.
If you are seeking therapy, you've most likely identified patterns in your life that you'd like to change. The path to this recognition is unique to each person, as is the process of therapy itself. My practice is devoted to helping people express their most authentic, creative selves, and to remain present while navigating life and its transitions. I have worked for over 30 years with people who struggle with addictions and self harm, and who have experienced profound trauma or challenging life stressors.

Specialties include: Attachment, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR- Reprocessing Therapy.
My years of psychodynamic work have brought me full circle to the realization that patterns of fear and doubt are most often at the core of one's desire for seeking help. Along with this awareness is the keen understanding that there are blueprints & pathways to enable one to move beyond these challenging states of being. Applied Attachment Theory provides a lens as well as a portal to transform insecurities when it is combined with eclectic models of developmental trauma designed to concurrently address the fears embedded in one's mind and nervous system. Hence, a psycho-biological integrative approach for transformation!
