That brought me to the USC where I graduated with a Masters Degree which allowed me to work in Mental Health Private Practice in New York where I have helped people from all walks off life overcome depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, drug addiction, self worth issues, and
relationship
discord.
If you are a creative soul, an artist, a writer, an actor, a performer, or even a unique individual looking to tell your story in this world and are looking for wide ranging help in areas of life and artistic expression I believe you are in the right place. My artwork has been exhibited in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle and has been featured in a variety of publications. I recently finished a novel and am close to completing a screenplay. Without outlets for artistic expression our light becomes dim. I worked on my undergraduate concentration focusing on the psychology of art and artists.

There are many ways to process experiences and feelings, not simply limited to talking. Integrating psychotherapy and creative expression can provide a refreshing, insightful, and effective experience in therapy. Some of my areas of focus include trauma, anxiety and depression, stress, loss and life transitions, as well as family and
relationship
difficulties, among others.

To me this means an integration of narrative therapy approaches to assist you with finding insights as well as infusing person-centered approaches to enrich the
relationship
we will build together.
I primarily focused my studies on communities of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and the effects of pervasive trauma. I also am very interested in neurodivergent and personality disorders.

I like to think of therapy as a long walk taken together, that becomes more meaningful as our
relationship
grows, and discovery becomes less frightening and more full of curiosity.
I believe that people come to therapy because they want to change their life for the better. I work with individuals to lighten sadness, grief or anxiety, or to gain a greater understanding of one's self. I believe that the root causes of difficulty are developmental or situational, circumstantial, or a trauma. I strive to provide a non-judgmental, nurturing, safe space to explore insights, strengths and challenges. I specialize with multi-cultural and multi-racial adults, expatriates, those in multi-racial relationships, and those struggling with anxiety, depression, personality disorders and addiction.

The most important thing in a therapeutic
relationship
is the match. Everyone wants to find a therapist who 'gets' them. I believe that therapy really works, and that finding the right person can be life-changing.
As a therapist, I believe it is important to respect the choices that people make in their lives, and to listen openly and non-judgmentally. We all make choices that may not make sense to our friends and family. Therapy is useful for helping us to understand the reasoning behind the decisions we've made, and for facilitating change in our lives.

I work to help individuals communicate their emotional and lived experiences. Together we will work to explore the structures that are behind suffering and make meaning of relationships, interpersonal patterns and self views. I believe that each therapeutic
relationship
is unique and an opportunity to create a new way of relating to each other and ourselves.

I am an associate individual,
couples
, and family therapist with an emphasis in sex therapy. My approach is open, playful, and collaborative; I see the therapy room as a place to talk about the parts of your life and yourself that you can’t discuss anywhere else. Sex and sexuality can be difficult to talk about, so I provide a warm and open space for clients to explore the challenges they face. I coach
couples
and individuals to explore and accept their individual erotic templates, overcome challenges, and lead satisfying and exciting sex lives. I am kink and sex positive.

I have a passion for working with
couples
at all stages of the life cycle. Premaritals, empty nesters, LGBT
couples
,
couples
with young children seeking to balance parenting with time for self and
partner
,
couples
needing support around sexuality and commitment issues,
couples
at a crossroads.... Much of my early therapeutic training was in Hospice bereavement counseling. Through that experience I became drawn to therapeutic encounters with the potential for spiritual renewal. In recent years I've connected with that initial sense of generativity and meaning through the practice of
couples
therapy, most notably in work as a premarital counselor.

Psychoanalytic work is a journey taken by two people - the therapist and the patient. I think of psychoanalytic work as a voyage of discovery. Here is a safe place where you can stop, take your time, look, listen to yourself. A place to go when you feel stuck in your life. I have psychodynamic and multicultural perspectives to work with individuals with issues that maybe very specific - a
relationship
, a job, a developmental issue, repetitive thoughts and rituals, trouble with addictions, a death, a marriage, family issues. Or it could be more perplexing - a vague feeling something is wrong.

Ideally, therapy has been shown to have the best outcomes when you feel like your therapist gets you. Therapy is a
relationship
, rather than a set of instructions. My approach is warm, interactive, practical, and empathic, and I draw from relational, feminist, trauma-informed, anti-racist treatment models. I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic
relationship
, along with helping you contextualize your life experiences, honoring your expertise in your own life.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
