I have worked in social services providing individual and group counseling in New York City for over 15 years. From crisis hotline volunteer to HIV test educator, from substance use counselor to prevention group leader, my work has taught me two important things: no one's life is perfect and everyone's got issues. So why therapy? There are times when you find yourself in the same frustrating or painful situation, or when you just want to make a change but don't know how - therapy can help. With my training and experience, I can help you through these times.

Sometimes, life can be overwhelming. It’s okay to ask for help to process the world around us. I believe therapy provides a safe space to be able to speak freely and unpack your thoughts and emotions. My goal as a therapist is to help you realize your full potential and identify your strengths. I invite you to take this first step to begin to see the beauty in life again.

It's perfectly normal and expected to feel some ambivalence about beginning psychotherapy. There is a natural fear that talking about one's concerns will make them worse and that even things that are going well could worsen in the process. My experience and training over 30 years has shown me however, that the therapeutic process enriches and strengthens what is already going well. The areas that one wants to improve become much better understood through the process, thereby clearing the way for real change to occur, which will only lead to a significantly more fulfilled life.

So often, we find ourselves at a crossroads in life. We are either transitioning into a new phase or are completely unhappy with where we are at. It is during these times of stress, anxiety and confusion that we have the opportunity to rise, recreate and redefine who we are and what we want our lives to look like. Redirecting your energy and reducing the amount of related stress will help you build healthy relationships, increase your confidence and improve your self-esteem.

I treat individual adults, adolescents and children as well as couples. Issues addressed in treatment include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, relationship problems, anger management and trauma in all of its manifestations. I serve a diverse clientele and am sensitive to differences of culture and sexual orientation. I find that underlying most problems is a profound difficulty in accepting and integrating one's various self-aspects, so this is a focus of the work

Covid-19 has brought the world of mental health fragility to a new level never seen before. The isolation and loneliness felt by everyone from children to the elderly has caused a rise in depression, anxiety and fear regarding every day life and the future. These strains are unhealthy emotionally and physically and need attention to avoid lasting impressions. The working relationship in therapy is to define underlying issues, stuck thought patterns and transform negative behavior to evolve into a positive and thriving attitude and consequently, life choices. We will join together to create the life you desire, as I help guide you.

I see our work together as a very active collaboration. From the moment we meet, I’m learning from you what we’re working toward, what has gotten in the way, and what supports you in relationships. I try to be direct and transparent about myself and our therapeutic process together. My aim is to make as much of yourself welcome in the room as possible and to make as much of your experience talkable as possible. I offer ideas on how to integrate the work you’re doing in therapy into your life. I help people with many issues (anxiety, depression, transitions, self-concept), with specialties in trauma & LGBTQIA+ health.

As a therapist I am privileged to help. I provide a space where clients can rediscover or develop authentic selves and deepen emotional connections with others. I enable clients to recognize how thoughts, beliefs and values affect relationships and to consider new ways of being in the world; to develop healthier adaptive strategies when facing problems, and to work through past and present trauma, grief, and losses.Psychotherapy does not have to be painful - it can be a safe, creative, and playful process of strengthening one's health and well-being.

I believe that whatever may trouble you and your life, it cannot define you psychologically nor diminish the whole of your identity. Therefore, I regard all aspects of your past, your present, and your inner life, as a series of promising pathways: Through them we seek a fuller understanding of your living reality, and we can identify and develop key resources for resolving your dilemmas. Throughout our work together my overall perspective on you, the client, is of your distinct, unique connection to our common ground of human experience: the shared territory in which we all sometimes struggle, and in which I fully include myself.

I'm a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst specializing in anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Before I became a therapist, I worked as a freelance writer, editor, and writing coach. The most fulfilling part of that work for me was helping writers overcome personal obstacles in order to accomplish their goals. Now, as a relational psychoanalyst, I have the privilege of helping many different kinds of people find themselves at some of the hardest times in their lives.

And maybe work challenges and struggles managing emotions preoccupy you. Intimacy can seem illusive. Parenting can bring you to your knees. Dealing with overwhelming emotions and stress can often be an isolating experience, but it does not have to be. My goal as a clinician is to create a safe setting for healing through compassion, understanding, and trust. Our work together will focus on gaining a stronger understanding of yourself while obtaining skills and techniques to forge meaning through difficult moments in life. I believe that high quality therapy comes from a customized approach by taking evidence-based methodologies and tailoring them to an individual’s personality and needs.
