Are you struggling with your relationships? Are you facing communication challenges, power struggle and conflict? Are you facing infidelity or trust issue and wonder how to you can overcome the betrayal? Are you hurt, angry, confused, or frustrated... but yet willing to work it out and save your
marriage
? Couples therapy is probably the hardest type of therapy to be in and to practice; and I have been on both sides. In my work as a therapist, I see despair, loneliness, anger, contempt, aggression, unhealthy patterns and lack of intimacy. Unfortunately, so many couples come to me way beyond their due date.

You don’t have to give up love, let resentment build with your partner, or keep feeling stuck in a passionless
marriage
.
Hi, I’m Tyler Parrott, I work with high-achieving New Yorkers and New Jerseyans seeking to find or grow deeply satisfying and lasting relationships. Too many NYers are so focused on getting things done or moving their careers forward that they struggle to be present in their relationships. This causes their relationships to become static and alienating, which leaves them feeling stuck, lonely, and misunderstood. Sound familiar?

Because of the remarkable, truly life transformative process of psychotherapy, I'm in love with my work: I have had the wonderful opportunity to build my clients' confidence and empower their lives. As I have been fortunate to have learned some of the most effective means to motivate people towards change, I've watched my clients resolve their emotional dilemmas, to discover the kind of life that had eluded them: One with a greater sense of energy, optimism, love, ambition, friendship, joy, career, work,
marital
and monitory success.

I am a bilingual/bicultural Spanish speaking Licensed
Marriage
and Family Therapist. My license and training has exclusively focused on clinical practices. I seek to accompany my clients on their journey towards emotional healing and self-worth. I know that therapy is a difficult and often painful process of self-discovery. It is most effective when done in a supportive and empathic environment where it feels safe to be challenged, to explore the influence of the past, and to make changes in the here and now. As such are the beliefs and practices stemming from psychodynamic theory

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
