My years of experience working in an outpatient dual disorder treatment program have prepared me to offer my patients comprehensive treatment that may involve both individual and
family
work.
I work with individuals who are struggling with issues that interfere with their overall life satisfaction and level of happiness. My basic optimism that people can change drives my practice philosophy. I recognize that there are motivational factors that interfere with people's readiness for change and therefore see myself as a change agent to help the individuals I work with to become ready and then able to make changes in terms of coping skills, relationship skills, managing mood instability, substance issues, eating disorders and other compulsive behaviors. My years of practice experience and training have prepared me to offer skilled interventions and expertise.

My prior extensive experience in
family
systems, CBT and focused therapy informs my work as a clinical social worker, allowing me to help people become more "embodied" and deeply connected.
Therapy is beneficial when something in your life challenges your ability to be your best self. In our work together, we address what is blocking this process. It might be anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues, chronic stress, illness, trauma, or something unique to your history. Life's journey presents many obstacles, and finding the proper support when needed can make a huge difference. Everyone can live with more clarity, connectedness, and joy, and it is my pleasure to assist in enabling that.

We all want to feel happy and live the life we believe we deserve. Often there are obstacles that prevent this from coming to fruition. Issues such as depression, anxiety, life role transition, grief, and childhood sexual trauma can hold us backing from living life. For the most part, we want to feel whole in personal relationships, in work roles, and with
family
members.

I consider it a privilege to treat those who seek my help. I am an empathic listener who is also actively engaged in the therapeutic process. My goal is to promote wellness -- not just relieve symptoms -- because I believe that everyone has potential assets in addition to the problems they come in with. Enhancing my training in a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment modalities is my background in neuropsychology, psychological assessment, psychoeducational assessment, psychopharmacology, and neurosciences.

From the outside it looks like you have it all together - you’re the “go-to” friend, a devoted son/daughter and loving girlfriend/boyfriend, a top ranked analyst, a successful start-up founder - but on the inside you are often struggling to hold it all together. Friends and
family
praise your accomplishments, and you think to yourself “if only they really knew”. If this feels like you, know that you are not alone. With the innumerable stressors we face living and working in today's world it is only a matter of time before even the most resilient, motivated individuals realize that they need some extra help.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
