My clients include women of color from diverse backgrounds who are struggling with self love, self esteem, colorism, hair stigma, cultural adjustment, religious identity, and intersectionality. Women of color are hit the hardest with race-related stress, and yet they seldom have the proper resources or tools to heal. In my practice, I help clients disrupt the intergenerational
trauma
that continues impacting them.

To paraphrase Carl Rogers, it’s a curious paradox that real change occurs once we can accept ourselves as we truly are. Our past experiences mold each of us into a fabulously unique human, and it is my belief that we can solve many of the problems we face by looking at how we grew up and learned how to be a person. I want to break the expectations of what you “should” be and help you figure out who you really are. To that end, I take a humanistic,
trauma
-informed, and person-centered approach to psychotherapy, tailoring my style to fit the individual client.

I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, and those looking for support with their
trauma
symptoms, substance use, relationships, anxiety and depression.
The world can be a complicated, confusing, and really overwhelming place, and we all develop our own ways of coping. Sometimes we reach a point where we realize some of our strategies need to change. I strongly believe that removing the shame and stigma associated with certain coping mechanisms and behaviors is integral to adjusting them. I work with clients to identify, and have compassion for, why they enact certain responses, behaviors, and patterns, and develop new ones that meet their current needs and desires.

Through advanced training in
trauma
-based & neuroscience-informed modalities (such as AEDP, EFT, & EMDR), I'm able to work with clients in a way that rewires the nervous system so clients can be their selves at best.
Searching for a therapist can be a daunting experience, one that is often intensified by the overwhelming struggles that lead to seeking help in the first place. Despite this initial challenge, the bold step towards therapy can become the catalyst for a renewed sense of purpose and agency for your life. Perhaps right now you are feeling powerless, stuck in cycles of negative thoughts and behaviors, burdened by complicated relationships, or working through a difficult season of change. Whatever it is that brings you to this process, know that therapy can help you find relief.

What is it that is so frightening about being vulnerable? Life experience, relationships,
trauma
, and loss often force us to harden, to protect ourselves, and to be anything BUT vulnerable. In doing so, we become disconnected from ourselves and from those around us which takes the form of anxiety, depression, body pain, and an overall feeling of dissatisfaction. In therapy, we work together to explore all of those dimensions in life that have impacted you and through the process, you find release. You chime into acceptance, peace, and the infinite strength of your authentic self.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
