She works with teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression,
relationship
issues, life transitions, and low self-esteem.
Life can be difficult. I understand how inner pain can feel both overwhelming and all- encompassing. The good news is that pain does not have to last forever, and it’s never too late to heal. Small changes lead to bigger ones, and getting started is the hardest part. Together, we’ll explore how past experiences may be preventing you from achieving the life you want and deserve. By harnessing your inner strength, I will offer tangible tools to alleviate existing pain and replace old behaviors with new ones.

My training is in two main areas: mind-body approaches to anxiety and trauma, and relational therapy, which focuses on patterns of
relationship
.
I believe that depression and anxiety emerge from patterns of emotion, thought, and behavior that we learned in order to survive. So therapy begins with a faith that you came by your struggles honestly, in an effort to protect yourself and make sense of your world. From there, the first step is to recognize how these patterns function now in your life and your mind, and to believe in the possibility that you can feel different--freer, safer, calmer, more lovable.

I bring a spirit of creativity to our work and believe a strong client/therapist
relationship
is key for creating change.
Life can be overwhelming at times, especially at this current moment in history. Therapy is a way to understand why you may feel stuck, or what may be causing your important relationships to suffer. Starting therapy can be both daunting and exciting, and finding the right therapist is key. Together we will create a space of trust and connection. We will explore what feels most pressing for you now, as well as old patterns that may be holding you back from greater happiness and ease. My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive and non-judgmental.

My approach to therapy is informed by a Jungian and relational perspective. The aim of this work is to help a person deepen their understanding of themselves and their interactions with others, alleviate suffering and encourage curiosity about themselves and those around them. Jungian therapy fosters the capacity for self-expression and creativity and promotes a symbolic, image-driven understanding of symptoms such as anxiety, depression, marital, family and
relationship
problems, as well as questions about sexual/gender identity, body image and somatic experience.

Whatever brings you to therapy, talking to a well-trained, warm and sensitive therapist is likely to bring relief. I believe that a collaborative, genuinely caring therapeutic
relationship
is the key to successful therapy. Within the context of an empathic
relationship
, a person is safe to get to know her or his own feelings and habits, and where they come from. They are then unbound to repeat the same unhelpful patterns.

Together, we will build a therapeutic
relationship
within which you will feel less alone to take on what has brought you to therapy.
Do you feel that life could be more joyful, more meaningful, more productive, more balanced - but don’t know how to access this elusive "more"? You may have had a hard time finding your footing after a big life event or transition. It's common to struggle with identifying and communicating about what you think, feel, want and need. You may feel disconnected from friends and family and don't know how to ask for or accept help. The more we try to cover up what we're struggling with, the more we feel alone and fear being "exposed." This can cause us to feel inauthentic, awkward or ashamed and we may experience anxiety and depression.

I am passionate about working with individuals and
couples
alike.
During our work together, we’ll use a relational lens to make sense of your challenges (and strengths). I believe that relationships can say a lot about a person, so understanding how you connect to other people will be the framework of our time in therapy. We’ll explore your relationships with all of the important people in your life, including your family, friends, intimate partners, and coworkers. All of these connections can reflect important truths about how you view yourself and the world. Beyond your bonds with other people, we’ll also explore your
relationship
with yourself.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
