To exist in the human condition is a complex and fascinating experience. Our inner emotional lives are a beautiful and vulnerable part of ourselves that are deserving of protection and nurturing. My belief is that the human spirit is resilient. Much like flowers in the winter...even in the snow, we bloom. My practice is designed to help people heal from anxiety, depression and trauma so that they can move towards peace, contentedness and self actualization. Together we will work to overcome symptoms related to mental health conditions and make progress towards having healthier thoughts, feelings and relationships.

I operate from a trauma -informed and multicultural background, and will meet you where you are.
Do you struggle with navigating culture and identity? Are you yearning for healthy relationships yet finding it difficult to achieve? Does your anxiety or depression interfere with your ability to function? Everyone has a story - a past, present and a future, which can be understood with some support and guidance. Living in the city and juggling responsibilities tends to overburden our systems. Unresolved traumas often appear in new and existing relationships without our awareness. I am here to walk with you and support you in telling your story.

I will help you break free of your inner critic and heal from trauma .
When you do your best, do you still beat yourself up for not being perfect? If something goes wrong, do you immediately assume it’s your fault? Perhaps despite being accomplished and driven, you worry your real self will never measure up and you're always on the lookout for rejection? Maybe you just can't shake that need to "fix" everything and take care of everyone, leaving no time to care for yourself. Do you feel sleep is something other people do while you worry about everything? Are you just plain tired of never feeling good enough?

When confronted with a challenge it’s not enough to look inwards in the here and now but also examine how our past and societal systems affect the way we function in the world. Whether it’s walking through trauma , relationships, anxiety, depression, or discerning where you are in the wide spectrum of gender and sexuality, it takes a holistic and integrative approach to move forward into the path to wellness

I use an integrative approach that blends cognitive behavioral resources with insights from Psychodynamic (freudian) traditions and see through a trauma informed and multiculturally competent lens.
Whether you are stuck making a significant life decision, feel overwhelmed by life, feel hopeless or detached from your own power, or simply cant seem to connect with others in a meaningful way, you likely are reading this because you want to get to a better place. I can point you to new options, give you concrete tools to use every day and make you feel heard and understood. I help people who are having relationship problems improve their communication skills, navigate conflict and disagreements, set healthy boundaries, make confident decisions, overcome guilt and shame and reach forgiveness of self and others.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
