I have training and experience in multiple specialty areas, including financial struggles, military trauma, immigration issues, and women with ADHD.
EMAIL is best for immediate contact! There are times in life when everyone needs a little help. You might be dealing with grief, such as losing a family member or a beloved pet. You may be struggling with daily problems like past trauma, financial difficulties, or issues focusing. I help people who are feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or just want to feel differently. With a supportive relationship, and shared space with a therapy dog, you can begin to experience relief. With a little more time, you can start to enjoy life, feel more confident, and recognize yourself again.

**Note: For fastest response, please contact me via e-mail. ** Life is busy, stressful, and anxious. It is a constant effort to manage all of the "should"s and the "musts"; the expectations and the high standards - put on you most often by no one more than yourself! But life is also beautiful, rewarding, and fun - if you can only slow down and get out of your head long enough to enjoy it. Even the many positive aspects of our lives can be overwhelming when we get caught in that anxious cycle.

Deciding to start therapy is a big decision. One of the most important first steps is to find a therapist you feel comfortable with and someone you can trust to take this important journey with you. I believe in a holistic approach to healing that emphasizes self-care, mindfulness, and creating meaningful connections. I will take the time to understand how trauma has impacted you and work with you to develop an individualized plan. I seek to create an environment where clients are heard and supported and feel safe enough to share their stories.

Do you tend to be hard on yourself, often feeling exhausted and on edge? Has it been hard to reach out and explore supportive therapy due to the fear of judgment, fear of change, and doubt? These are common reasons for neglecting your mental wellness. However, it is a strength and a valid responsibility to receive emotional support. Highly accomplished individuals who appear to have it all figured out are also in need of emotional support, and it’s not a weakness. I specialize in working with student doctors and other professionals in stressful work cultures who are dealing with burnout, perfectionism, anxiety, and depression.

My ideal client recognizes that depression and/or anxiety are getting in the way of their daily functioning and overall well-being. The client knows change needs to occur in order to live a life that feels fulfilling and is ready to do the work. Taking the first step of recognizing that change needs to happen is key! Together we can cultivate a therapeutic relationship to work on identified goals. My professional background allowed me to work with a wide range of individuals from a variety of backgrounds to address current concerns, examine patterns of behavior, review strengths and coping skills through a trauma-informed lense.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
