Are you seeking a therapist that is creative, easy to relate to, and a connection that is safe, trusting and reliable? Not to mention experienced. Everyone has different needs and circumstances, whether it be trauma related, relationship issues, life altering events, grief, mental health or health related needs, or just plain stress and critical life decision making. It is helpful to have someone to talk that out with, a person who can offer a fresh perspective and skills in navigating through these issues. Possibly in a brief or longer term treatment.

Therapy is a process of building a trusting relationship in which expression, exploration, awareness and healing occur. I provide a warm, nurturing environment in which this therapeutic relationship can develop and grow. Knowing that each client is unique, I tailor my approach to best meet each individual’s needs. As an art therapist and psychotherapist, I have worked with adults, adolescents, children and families in a variety of settings. My creative methods include both traditional “talk” therapy as well as the use of art materials to foster expression and facilitate the process.

The healing process is vulnerable and courageous. Whether you seek healing for yourself or your child, a safe holding space that provides supportive containment and compassion is so vital. I embrace each individual with the knowledge that one is the expert of their own lives. My role is to provide a space to access deeper wisdom and personal expression. I began my career in early childhood education and have brought my knowledge of early childhood development into my work as a therapist, with a focus on attachment, sensory processing and the nervous system constantly informing my work.

Contemplating who you are or what you want? Doubting your parenting skills now that your child has grown into a teen that feels impossible to understand? You're normal (whatever that means), I promise. Life transitions at any age can bring challenges and self-doubt. Unresolved past experiences or trauma may resurface, leaving us feeling stuck with overwhelming feelings that can be hard to navigate on our own. You are not alone. As a therapist who truly cares, I believe in healing through the use of empathy, self empowerment, and uncovering insights in order to help us narrate our own story.

My ideal client would want to identify and implement the necessary steps to address his/her immediate goals, but also invested in developing insight and skill development for the long-term, self-awareness, and overall growth as an individual. This client would be present, genuine and open to discuss his/her concerns in a nonjudgmental, empathetic environment.

When children and teens are in crisis, so are their families? Is homework time stressful? Is your child unhappy? Does he/she not have friends? Is the teacher complaining that he/she is not paying attention to the lessons? Are you concerned your child's grades need to improve in order for he/she to be promoted to the next grade level? I help children learn ways to calm themselves so they can better pay attention. Through playing games which may involve math or reading, they begin to feel a sense of success and find learning can be fun.

For over 12 years, I have helped couples better their relationships. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Sex Therapist (AASECT), I offer customized counseling for a range of client needs in a secure, nurturing, and professional environment. Many issues can arise during marriage or long term relationships. Infidelity, poor communication, and loss of trust are among the most common issues we encounter. Helping couples to resolves these conflicts, repair damage, and reconnect is the most satisfying work I do.

I offer a safe, positive, empathetic, and productive clinical environment that addresses individual needs. My treatment approach offers hopeful solutions without stigma, judgment, or empty labels. I challenge self-deception while encouraging assertiveness, authenticity, resilience, and conscious awareness. My style is interactive and engaging. Attention is placed on the patient's immediate experience and constructively expressing what is most real and alive in their inner world. We provide counseling services for children, adolescents, families and women in Rockland County.
I have been working with children and their families for over 15 years in settings such as hospitals, schools, mental health clinics and client's homes. I have extensive experience treating children with anxiety and depression, behavioral and anger management issues, ADHD, and oppositional defiance disorder. I have supported families through various stages of the divorce process and loss of a family member. I believe that a child is successful in therapy when the whole family is supportive and involved and I therefore have strong communication with a child's parents. I follow a Cognitive Behavioral and strengths based approach.

You may be feeling stuck, lost, anxious, confused, sad, or it’s just harder to cope. Uncertainties in the world or our community can often exacerbate our distress. While each of us has a natural capacity to heal, my role is to help you identify and remove the obstacles that stand in the way of your health, coping, growth and well-being. I strive to provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space to help with a range of concerns like anxiety, depression, PTSD, or addiction. I also specialize in relationship issues and issues related to career as I have a background in Employee Assistance and Management Consultation.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
