Are you struggling to pour into your own cup? Maybe you are feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed and wondering when you will get a break. It can be difficult to juggle all the things life hands us and prioritize ourselves, often while wearing multiple hats every day. If you can relate, you are in the right place. Here, you will have a safe, judgment free space where the focus is solely on YOU. A place where you can learn more about yourself, discover your strengths, dig deeper into past experiences, and identify what you may want to change or do differently. Whatever your goals for therapy may be, you are in the driver’s seat.

Life can be difficult. There’s no denying this. And, at times, life can seem even more difficult. Have you been feeling sad, stressed, worried, confused, frustrated, angry, or at a bit of a loss? Perhaps you’ve experienced, or are facing, a transition in life (e.g., a break-up, divorce, loss of a loved one, medical challenge, retirement, engagement, marriage, etc.) that is leaving you feeling any number of ways. Or maybe you're feeling a certain way and don't know why. If so, you're likely looking to find some peace, clarity, understanding, and support so you can live a happier, healthier, and more authentic life.

You might be struggling right now, maybe having thoughts like "I’m a burden" or "I don’t want to do this anymore." Maybe people expected you to have your life together or take care of others but your needs were set aside and now you don't know how to put yourself first or take care of yourself without feeling guilty. You're feeling hurt and worried that if you allow yourself to be vulnerable that you'll be rejected again and proven right to not have opened up in the first place. You don't have to build those walls up forever, you can learn to trust again even if right now you don't know where to begin or how.

I want to congratulate you on taking the first step towards healing, change and acceptance. Choosing a therapist can feel like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be that way. As a prospective client I want to partner with you in your journey of self- reflection; affirming and knowing that you have made the best possible investment into yourself. I work with individuals (adults and teenagers), as well as couples. During therapy I work with clients collaboratively to build healthy coping mechanisms, learning how to deal with life’s stressors.

In the blink of an eye, the world has changed overnight. You may be struggling with insomnia or moods that upset you and that are damaging your intimate, family, and peer relationships. Recent changes in society and your living situation may have triggered life transitions which have sorely stretched your ability to cope. You may feel stuck in a repetitive cycle, making the same mistakes over and over without understanding why and feeling powerless to make productive and positive changes. Maybe you feel traumatized or that choice has been taken from you and you are grasping at regaining some semblance of normalcy in your life.

Life can be hard but it can also be beautiful. I utilize a compassionate and integrative approach to psychotherapy. I seek to help clients generate positive change in their lives and am a believer in the mind-body connection, the power of our thoughts and narratives, and that our environment and life experiences greatly impact our lives. I believe that through developing self-awareness and insight we can better understand who we are and what holds us back. I integrate modalities that include our somatic experience, the acceptance/change dialectic, and use a combination of both psychodynamic theory and skills-based behavior therapy.

Couples facing affairs, broken trust, constant fights, poor communication, emotional distance, intimacy struggles, money stress, parenting conflicts, or even divorce often feel lost and painfully alone. Many arrive drained from endless arguments without resolution, nights spent as strangers, silent resentment over finances or daily chores, and the deep ache of feeling unseen and misunderstood. Over time, love can feel replaced by distance, mistrust, and conflict, leaving partners questioning whether repair and closeness are still possible

Have you ever felt that you couldn’t find someone to communicate with, especially in a language that you understand? Look no further! It is my goal to build alliances, establish a relationship, and understand what my clients are going through by providing a safe space to go to therapy without the need of an interpreter. Not only do I provide therapy in your native language but I also understand the deaf culture and community. I am here to work with you on all of your needs, remain sensitive to your experiences, and to create a space that allows us to work on your personal goals and aspirations.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
