As a DBT therapist, I work with individuals who may have struggled with suicidal ideation, self harm, substance abuse, emotion dysregulation, and difficulties with relationships. Often I see clients who identify as highly sensitive and have a hard time accepting this about themselves due to the intensity of their emotions. It is my goal to assist these individuals in understanding the absolute strength their sensitivity can be once they learn to not only self-regulate, but embrace this quality. I believe the most beautiful thing about DBT treatment is the primary goal of getting clients to live a life they truly find worth living.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with 25 years in practice. I seek to provide a safe, comfortable and supportive environment in which clients can explore their struggles and how to best address them, in order to experience more peace and live more authentically. I employ a variety of techniques to achieve these goals, including CBT, psychoanalytic, coping strategies, family systems and most importantly, Rogerian based humanistic treatment. My belief about therapy is that it should be client centered; that every person is unique, and should be treated as an individual.

If you’re frustrated having spent lots of time and money on quick fix programs that promised the world, I get it. Life is messy and uncertain. Does it seem like many of the ways you feel inadequate are hard to hide, especially from yourself? What’s holding you back? Are you trying to improve or leave difficult relationships? Are you stressed and want to overcome the hidden affects of trauma and family secrets? If you answered yes, often the answers are in the shadows. When you shine light on your darkness, anxiety and not feeling enough recede. Then you can reclaim your confidence having a vibrant and fulfilling life.

Life can be hard…therapy helps. We experience many changes in our lifetime and all of them - whether positive or negative changes - can cause stress. As a society we are not great at acknowledging the negative or the stress that accompanies these life changes. Social media has only amplified this ever present pressure for the “perfect life.” The reality is that life can be hard and the world is not always perfect or kind. Therapy can help us to better understand the stressors in our life and develop a plan to cope with those stressors.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards a healthier life. I know how hard it can be to find the “right” therapist, but how rewarding it is when it comes to fruition. I offer an approach to treatment that is kind, relaxed, and person-centered.

You might be struggling right now, maybe having thoughts like "I’m a burden" or "I don’t want to do this anymore." Maybe people expected you to have your life together or take care of others but your needs were set aside and now you don't know how to put yourself first or take care of yourself without feeling guilty. You're feeling hurt and worried that if you allow yourself to be vulnerable that you'll be rejected again and proven right to not have opened up in the first place. You don't have to build those walls up forever, you can learn to trust again even if right now you don't know where to begin or how.
