I am a psychotherapist who has been in private practice in for over 20 years. My professional experiences have given me a deep appreciation for our innate capacity to not only survive, but to transform difficult life events in ways that foster understanding, healing, and personal growth. For some, psychotherapy can provide a safe and nurturing environment in which to learn healthy coping strategies to better deal with the stressors of daily living. For others, it can provide a unique opportunity to work on a deeper level to address core issues related to family of origin, trauma, sexuality, and addiction.

Coping skills are important, and I will certainly help you with those. But you want to really live your life, not just get through it. Merely coping is not enough, you want to thrive! That's my working assumption. If you don't think that's possible, that's where our work begins, to figure out how you can regain hope, and the belief that vitality is your birthright. Clearing space for creativity is an important part of the process. Don't have a creative bone in your body, you say? I say you're wrong. Let's talk.

We learn to survive before we come to understand ourselves. The ways we have adapted may have once served us, but over time they often limit the lives we long to live. Therapy offers a chance to meet these protective parts with curiosity and compassion, loosening their hold on us. When we stop fighting ourselves, something unexpected happens. The qualities we long for - connection, creativity, joy and vitality - begin to emerge. Again and again, I've watched people discover that who they truly are was never lost; it was simply hidden beneath the work of surviving.

Imagine a space where you can show up exactly as you are. You don't have to have all the answers or worry about being judged. Therapy is a place where you can feel supported, and truly heard. If you find yourself constantly overthinking, doubting yourself, feeling disconnected from yourself, or struggling in your relationships, you're not alone. Whether you're seeking therapy as an individual or as a couple, many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns they struggle to break, or unsure how to communicate their needs or process their emotions. Together, we'll make sense of what's beneath the surface.

I work from a psychodynamic framework, meaning that I believe the problems clients face are often rooted in current and past relational experiences as well as in feelings outside of conscious awareness.
In addition to my psychotherapy practice, I also offer a separate coaching program called The Grounded Within Lab. The Grounded Within Lab is a 16 week, hour-long, coaching class which helps people in relationships with narcissistic individuals go from feeling frustrated, overlooked, and stuck in toxic cycles to grounded, clear, calm, and free.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
