I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression , sexuality, addictive behaviors, trauma, PTSD.
Therapy is a wonderful opportunity to gain a deeper sense of fulfillment in your life. By exploring and understanding your feelings, thoughts and behaviors you will begin to develop more self-awareness and self-acceptance. It is quite rewarding to better understand the many complicated and self-sabotaging part of yourself and gain more control over those behaviors. Developing insight allows you to have a greater understanding of who you are and the life choices you have made. Insight and self-awareness give you more freedom to make healthier choices and change unsatisfied areas of your life.

I also treat anxiety, depression , relationship issues, and stress.
I am an empathic Psychologist who uses humor to speak about difficult topics. My goal is to help my clients reach their goals, whether that be increased insight, behavior change, or managing thoughts. I use a non-judgmental and supportive stance to help my clients feel more comfortable when speaking about issues that may make them feel vulnerable. At times, I can be irreverent and direct, which helps when we find ourselves avoiding what needs to be addressed. In addition to working with clients in my private practice, I'm also the the Associate Director of the Counseling Center at Iona College, a Division 1 athletics institution.

I offer a wide range of treatment modalities, including mind-body therapies as well as traditional psychotherapy. These include CBT, Somatic Experiencing (SE), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and EMDR. My style is active, engaging and focused on achieving client goals within a time limited framework. Having 25 years experience as a therapist, combined with specialty treatments, allows for shorter therapy time and a high degree of success. Lengthy therapy is unnecessary in order to experience positive results and achieve desired goals. I work with both individuals and couples.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for depression , anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, and related conditions. I have expertise in working with adolescents, adults, families, and parents of children with special needs. I strongly believe that treatment is most successful in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I work collaboratively with each client to set and work towards personal goals. Therapy can be short term or long term; some clients come weekly for 3 to 4 months until symptoms decrease, while others remain in therapy for longer periods of time.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
