I whole-heartedly believe in the concept of “Feel then Heal.” Together, we can explore what is going on that is preventing you from living the life you want to live and cultivate solutions that realistically fit your life. I take a strength-based approach to counseling and believe you already possess the answers you need to become the best version of yourself, and that it is simply my job to help you find them. We can explore the thought patterns that may be preventing you from being able to move towards your goals and actively begin thinking about situations in a more positive way.

Many of my clients have dealt with and worked through issues related to depression, anxiety, relationship issues, fear of change, anger management, loss of a job or loved one, addiction, and trauma.
I believe that therapy should be a safe, caring, non-judgmental, and confidential place to share thoughts and feelings, explore the root or cause of difficulties, and practice new ways of coping that will encourage balance, peace, self-confidence, joy, and a greater understanding of self and others.

My patients come from complex, chaotic families, where relationships and communication are broken and there is sometimes chronic illness, addictions, or other problems such as violence. These families are rigid, but my patients want to remain in and be accepted by them. When such a family encounters hurdles in the outside environment, external stresses are added to those within. At present, polarization happening simultaneously inside and outside a family is an increasing and dangerous combination. I help my patients see how their family works, opening possibilities for change while keeping the family together.

My ideal clients are individuals, couples, and families navigating the friction of complex relationship dynamics and generational patterns. Often, they come to me because their usual ways of coping have left them feeling disconnected, stuck, or overwhelmed by "big" family transitions. Whether you are a couple facing a communication crisis or a parent struggling with an adolescent’s behavioral challenges, I provide a space where every voice is heard. I leverage a Multisystemic (MST) lens to help you identify the root causes of conflict and build a collaborative roadmap toward lasting stability and genuine connection.

I have decades of experience studying and publishing scientific papers on problems of self-regulation or self-control in addiction and anger disorders.
My therapeutic approach builds on your needs and expectations. There are many ways to help with immediate issues, to reduce symptoms, and to promote positive outcomes. I pay close attention to existing medical conditions and brain health perhaps more than other therapists because of my specialization in neuroscience.

A successful therapeutic relationship will be supportive, empowering, positive, but also difficult, at times uncomfortable, and often challenging. We rarely find ourselves seeking therapy when everything is comfortable and going well; instead, we are feeling helpless, unlovable, angry, isolated, and stuck in situations without solutions. Things that once made sense no longer do, we are confused, fearful, and just want to feel better. Imagine not feeling so afraid, understanding how/where your thoughts come from, or just simply being able to be happy; these are the expectations of our work together.

My ideal client navigates life with a neurodivergent mind (ADHD/Autism), often battling anxiety or trauma from trying to fit a mold that wasn't built for them. They struggle with executive dysfunction, sensory overload, and the exhaustion of 'masking' their true selves.
They need more than support; they need a neuro-affirming strategist. Their goal is not to 'fix' their brain, but to master it. They want practical tools (CBT/REBT) to handle emotional regulation and focus. Ultimately, they seek to move from surviving chaos to living authentically, finding a space where they are fully understood.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
