Hello everyone, please welcome and allow me to first begin in thanking you. The choice to start therapy isn’t always easy, sometimes it is the most difficult thing to do is to even consider it, then admit you want/need it before even taking the steps to start, but you are not alone on this journey. Perhaps there has been times that you have found yourself feeling stressed, down, lacking confidence, or stuck in a pattern that no longer serves you. Perhaps you’re ready to take steps toward changes but feel stuck or unsure where to start. Or even feeling lost in your relationships in life or even disconnected from them.

We turn to therapy because something is amiss—because we feel hollow, fragile, or adrift; because we are lost in anxious spirals or caught in deep ruts of guilt and conflict; because we no longer recognize ourselves in our relationships, our work, or our words. Above all, though, we seek help because we yearn for something more.

Relationships are not easy. We all bring pain and patterns from the past into our current relationships, making them feel loaded, tense, and stuck at times. It can be overwhelming trying to navigate strong emotions, betrayals, challenging life events, or just everyday disagreements. But with awareness and understanding we can let go of the constraints of the past and make changes in our interpersonal lives.

You are bright, but you often don't know what you want out of life. You find yourself sad, lonely, sometimes rageful, and often without love. You are not alone. I understand the desire for control, and to 'know what to do.' I understand the fear that nothing will change. But you can change, as many have, and I can help.

Our shared cycle of human life confronts us with issues longing to be addressed in the here and now, even as rooted in the past or in a sense of unrealized potentials. We do best in engaging such concerns, including the end of life itself, when our explorations occur in an open and activating dialogical process. Additional to the interpersonal process of therapy, our dreams and our engagement with what transcends us, often provide us with the guidance needed to move forward in our living process in a renewed and dynamic manner. Collaboratively and with mutuality, this is the service I am privileged to offer.

I am trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, which means that together we listen for both conscious and unconscious conflicts which keep you feeling “stuck” or repeating similar patterns.
Psychotherapy offers a new way of understanding your problems which in turn, creates a shift in the way you live your life. Guided by genuine curiosity, empathy and open-mindedness I work to create a collaborative environment where I ask questions, share my insights and voice my observations. We will work closely in order to explore your unique inner world, and apply words to your past and current experiences. As a result, you will begin to feel better. The therapeutic experience and shifts made in the process will stay with you long after the sessions end.

Many people decide to seek therapy because they long for relief from pain and suffering in their lives. This may show up as anxiety, low self-esteem, unmanageable behaviors, emotional instability, or relationship difficulties. Other times, the decision stems from a drive to grow and achieve a greater sense of fulfillment. Regardless of the primary motivation, I believe therapy can help all people live a freer and more satisfying life that aligns with their values and dreams.

I relate to my clients in a genuine and empathic way. I prioritize the relationship between therapist and client as I believe an environment of safety and trust is crucial to the treatment process. My strength is in creating this environment while remaining focused on the client's individual experience and therapeutic needs.

I am a licensed psychoanalyst and received my post-graduate training at the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research in Manhattan.
Inner conflicts regarding work, sexuality, or relationships can sometimes result in feeling stuck, frustrated, or overwhelmed. Suffering in these ways can lead to a sense of isolation, lack of motivation, anxiety, lacking in or even feeling overwhelmed with energy, and above all, feeling at a loss as to the causes of these distressing feelings. Through talk therapy we can work together to facilitate a creative understanding of your mind and the emotional patterns that inhibit you or cause you pain.

As a Jungian analyst candidate, I am continuing my postgraduate clinical training with the Jungian Psychoanalytic Association in New York.
With commitment to the process, Jungian analysis can provide a sturdy container for deepening your capacity to lean with curiosity into discomfort, difference, and the unknown as it shows up in your life. We will bring attention to both present experience and past dynamics, working together to become more connected to the feelings, images, and values that shape your sense of self, inform your symptoms, and tug you towards your own becoming. To support this work, I am in ongoing Jungian analytic training & I draw on training in relational psychoanalysis, mindfulness and embodiment practices, and somatically engaged Jungian dreamwork.

Psychoanalytic Therapists

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?

Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?

Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?

Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?

Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
