I work with adults, young adults and teens who are struggling to understand themselves or are struggling to understand “why” they are experiencing unwanted emotions and trouble. These clients might sometimes feel confused, ashamed or disappointed of their own behavior(s); may feel frustrated, unappreciated or disconnected within their relationship(s); or, notice they have been feeling lonely, overwhelmed, defensive or not good enough. I work with clients who are seeking progressive growth, eager for lifelong changes, and appreciative of the process of getting to know and value the unique, imperfect parts of themselves.

I have a holistic view in healing and deeply value the client-therapist relationship. Creativity is the true essence of psychotherapy. I value clients partnership in their healing and invite them to explore their inner insight and creativity along with my therapeutic guidance. I draw from clinical approaches such as CBT, culturally sensitive, eclectic, integrative, jungian, humanistic, transpersonal, strength based and gestalt. My experience has brought me to see valuable psychotherapy as when the client becomes aware that their presenting problem can be healed by adopting and integrating positive and healthy perceptions and actions.

Sleepless nights. Sheer sense of panic courses through your veins as you lay awake. The clock reads 3am staring back at you once again. With little to no sleep night after night, the cycle never ends On the outside, you are the picture of composure. People say “they’ve got it all figured out. Not a worry in the world.” But on the inside, a battle wages on. Your inner demons have a tight grip on you. You feel hopeless and exhausted.

Equanimity of Great Neck Plaza Anger Management
MA, NYU, Ed
Anger Management + Personal Well-being + Life Coach equals? Individuals whose anger is dysfunctional on regular bases, anger management can be very helpful. The term “anger management” refers to the reduction of maladaptive, disruptive, and excessive angry arousal and expression. Anger management does not mean complete anger elimination. The goal is to educate clients awareness of expressive anger, and to react with minimal and infrequent anger to perceived conflicts and struggles, to express anger appropriately when they feel it, and, when possible, to use anger functionally to resolves life’s problems.

As a practicing psychologist licensed in New York State, I specialize in adolescents and their families. No matter how difficult or seemingly hopeless the situation, I work in a collaborative atmosphere to absorb clients' experiences and cultivate untapped resources in youth and families. I deal with a spectrum of psychological issues commonly related to youth and adults. The concerns may range from problems with mood, identity, adjusting to new situations, self-image, school, peer or adult relationships, impulsivity, communication or competence, to risk-taking, family crises and pressing circumstances of violence and anti-social behavior. These I approach from an attitude of possibility and positivity.

For over 20 years I have helped clients work through aspects of their lives they find most challenging. Understanding how these difficulties affect ongoing non-productive communication, help to restore positive relational patterns and everyday interactions. Intense verbal or non-verbal chronic behavior may leave partners feeling angry, hurt or confused. Learning to observe and repair complex perceptions, helps to soften negative and reactive behaviors. Gestures, tones and shouting are all forms of communication. Each may create tension, anger or even total withdrawal. The ability to process conflicting needs allows for acceptance.

At times, we just need someone to talk to outside of our daily lives. We find ourselves with problems that we may not be able to solve on our own. Sometimes, we need a safe space where we can open-up and gain perspective and confidence. Are you overburdened with caregiver fatigue? Caregivers of all kinds often have self-doubt, guilt and shame about asking for help. Many caregivers just don't know what the next steps should be. What changes would you like to see?

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach to therapy that helps clients identify their emotions, learn to explore and experience them, to understand them and then to manage them. Emotionally Focused Therapy embraces the idea that emotions can be changed, first by arriving at or 'living' the maladaptive emotion (e.g. loss, fear or shame) in session, and then learning to transform it. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples seeks to break the negative emotion cycles within relationships, emphasizing the importance of the attachment bond between couples, and how nurturing of the attachment bonds and an empathetic understanding of each others emotions can break the cycles.
