I have specific programs for the treatment of anxiety, depression, parenting, eating disorders, marital and couple conflict, child and
adolescent
behavior issues and parenting elderly parents.
The journey of life is one filled with joy, happiness, sadness, disappointments, loss and renewal. I feel my goal as a psychologist is to enable a child,
adolescent
, young adult, and adult find the strength to review life's troubling issues and form new perceptions which enables different outlooks on problems. I feel the only problems in life are situations that can not be resolved. Many times the resolutions are not what we thought life would offer us, but that is what we have. Book written by Dr. Pitta: "Solving Modern Family Dilemmas: An Assimilative Therapy Approach".

We’ve been through a lot these past few years, maybe longer. You somehow are keeping it together, but it’s been a long time since you’ve felt you are thriving. Many of us are too anxious or distracted to experience life fully. Procrastination is interfering with doing the things you know would help. Perhaps resentment or dissatisfaction has taken over your relationships- Maybe your older child or
adolescent
is struggling, Or perhaps you are dealing with something more intense; gender questioning or transition; a history of trauma; a significant loss. You've been thinking about finding support, now maybe you're ready.

As an adult or
teenager
your feelings and experiences are unique. You may need to have someone who can acknowledge what is important to you and to help you find ways to improve the way you feel about yourself, your loved ones, your life and your environment! Because we live in a materialistic society, people often feel isolated or alone, unsupported, conflicted or pressured to change your values. My goal is to help you to discover your needs and to help you achieve a strong sense of self and an ability to utilize the resources and relationships available to you.

Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, sexual dysfunction, or relationship issues? Regardless of the severity of your problems, I am confident that I can help. Often clients are reluctant to contact a psychologist because they are afraid of what to expect. Meeting with me is in many ways like talking to a knowledgeable, good friend. You will quickly see that I love being a clinical psychologist. I limit the number of clients I see each week so that each person receives the optimal level of personalized care.

Hello :) Imagine being traumatized due to a doctor’s visit, a hospital visit, or because you went on a date, or to school? If you don’t need to imagine it, talk to us; we can help. You are safe here. If you are ADHD, Autistic, Gifted, or Empath/Clair, the interplay between who you are and the world around you can cause anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, sadness, guilt, or self-doubt. Welcome! It takes courage to reach out and find a therapist. Maybe you have an inner dialogue that is critical, have trouble initiating things and following through, are experiencing relationship struggles or are curious about why something keeps happening even though you mean to change. Sometimes the relationship between food and body is complicated and talking about it can help you to understand more fully. Loss of identity due to a change in job, parenthood, career, sexual identity or physical illness may make you need to explore new ways of interacting with yourself and those around you.

Sometimes your usual ways of coping with stress and difficult situations stop working. This can leave you feeling ill-equipped to manage aspects of your life. As a result, you may be feeling sad, worried, scared, angry, and/or overwhelmed. I strive to help people better understand the nature of their problems and develop more effective ways to cope with them. I believe greater self-awareness, in combination with behavior changes, can lead to a richer and more satisfying life.

I work with adults, young adults and teens who are struggling to understand themselves or are struggling to understand “why” they are experiencing unwanted emotions and trouble. These clients might sometimes feel confused, ashamed or disappointed of their own behavior(s); may feel frustrated, unappreciated or disconnected within their relationship(s); or, notice they have been feeling lonely, overwhelmed, defensive or not good enough. I work with clients who are seeking progressive growth, eager for lifelong changes, and appreciative of the process of getting to know and value the unique, imperfect parts of themselves.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
