If you’re looking for a fellow traveler to walk alongside you through life’s challenges, I am here to support you. Whether you are new to therapy, or therapy is familiar to you, you deserve a space where your whole story is heard and valued. I specialize in working with people who have often felt like the odd person out— like they are navigating worlds that weren’t built for them. Individuals carrying the weight of difficult family dynamics or persistent criticism; or moving through identity shifts or life transitions that leave them unsure of who they are becoming. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone— and you’re not broken.

Openings for in-person and online therapy sessions, convenient downtown office location, near bus routes.
Being human isn't easy. Being with other humans can be even more difficult! Looking for new ways to deal with the challenges of life, relationships, and the negative repetitive patterns in your own brain? Sometimes it helps to talk to someone in a non-judgmental, open and curious way to help sort things out, explore new ground, practice new responses to the same old patterns, or know yourself (and a loved one) in a new way.

However, I am accepting people for group therapy. * I enjoy building relationships that facilitate the healing process - moving from just coping everyday to overcoming barriers in relationships, work, school and overall well-being through connection. I have experience working with adults and adolescents with persistent anxiety, depression and difficulty in attachment, often this is due to trauma. Our minds and bodies are powerful forces, which are wholly connected. Environmental factors, as well as belief and value systems are deeply rooted in how we present ourselves physically and emotionally. Painful life events can fracture the mind/body connection for the sake of survival. Adults may experience anxious and depressive thoughts. Relationships may see increased tension and/or codependent traits. Healing from therapeutic intervention is recognizing unhelpful “parts” and bringing love, appreciation and competency to your internal world.

At the heart of On Living Psychotherapy is an invitation to explore what a meaningful life looks like, for you. It’s common to become separated from your own life, moving on autopilot, trying to accomplish what you believe you should be doing. You may find yourself comparing your life to others and feeling as though you’re not doing things well enough, without noticing how deeply incomparable your life is. Over time, this can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, from others, and from the sense of aliveness that makes life feel meaningful.

Patients come to my practice looking to better their lives. They often come with a presenting problem that has brought them in at this specific point in time and they are seeking resolution and relief from that situation. However, in addition to more short-term, symptom relief, many patients come hoping to attain a better understanding of themselves from the inside out — from their thoughts to their behaviors. In short, they are trying to increase their awareness and understanding of themselves in an attempt to improve the quality of their relationships and their lives.

My job is to facilitate the process of change. I am experienced in helping people with problems in personal relationships and at work. Many of my clients are feeling stuck or unsure about something of importance. They may be struggling with parenting, addiction, or feelings of anxiety, irritability, and deep sadness. Some have experienced something tragic that has left them unmoored and are wondering how to rebuild. Often, the people I work with are associated with colleges and universities. My 20+ years of experience in higher education is a resource in my work as a therapist.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
