“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.” (Carl Rodgers) We can’t change what we do not explore and the first step in the direction of that journey is always the hardest. But you are here already taking that step, looking for someone to assist with the change that you seek. Everyday life can be in the way of focusing on healing from our past, management of stress/mental health issues and making changes for our future. Setting aside time for yourself is important! You are important!

We are all given challenges in our lives but sometimes those challenges require us to reach out for help. Are you finding it hard to cope with emotions? Anxious? Sad? Difficulty adjusting to life changes? Or maybe your teen has been experiencing changes to mood or struggles with relationships? You’ve decided to reach out for help and that’s a courageous first step. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and “It just didn’t help.”

Life can feel overwhelming when you're carrying the weight of your personal identity, family expectations, or the impacts of generational trauma. You may find yourself caught between who you are and who others expect you to be, leading to feelings of stress, self-doubt, or disconnection. Many of my clients seek a space where all parts of their identity are seen and affirmed, while also working through challenges like anxiety, depression, family of origin issues, or difficult life transitions. Together, we focus on healing, resilience, and building a stronger sense of self.

We all view the world through a lens shaped by our personal history, environment, and expectations. But life’s challenges such as trauma, grief, or chronic stress can cloud or distort that lens, leaving us feeling stuck or overwhelmed. I believe we each have an innate resilience, even when our perspective feels foggy, scratched, or shattered. My therapeutic work is grounded in a holistic, integrative approach, helping you explore how you’ve navigated life so far and what strengths you can build on to move forward with clarity and purpose. I specialize in helping clients reclaim clarity, confidence, and connection at their own pace.

Looking for a therapist can bring up a lot of uncertainty. You may wonder if you’ll feel understood, if therapy will be useful, or where to begin. I believe finding the right fit matters, and that a strong therapeutic relationship can support clarity, direction, and a deeper understanding of yourself. I approach my work with curiosity, a sense of humor, and a genuine interest in helping people move through areas where they feel stuck. I see therapy as a shared process.

Seeking help is a courageous step. If you've spent time in traditional therapy, you've likely made valuable progress. But if talk, insight, and coping haven’t led to lasting change, it may be time for a different approach. I often work with clients who come from families where boundaries were unclear, emotions were misunderstood, connection felt conditional, or abuse was mistaken for love. These challenges run deep, creating patterns of reactivity, anxiety, depression, and painful relationship dynamics. By addressing the root cause, we break cycles of suffering and move beyond mere coping to true, lasting healing.

Feeling anxious all the time is such a crippling feeling and can feel like there is no escaping it. Just when one anxious thought starts to go away, another one shows up and takes its place. It can feel like an endless cycle of racing thoughts, worry, and fear about anything and everything. It’s hard to know when the anxiety will be over especially living in an anxiety-inducing world that is constantly changing which in turn leads to more anxiety. If this sounds like you, you're not alone!

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
