With the continuing rise in anxiety and depression, it is becoming increasingly more important to go inward and pinpoint what is weighing on you. In therapy, we will uncover the source of your pain, resolve problems with self-acceptance, and correct negative re-occurring patterns. We will eliminate the barriers that have been preventing you from living up to your fullest potential and achieving deep fulfillment in life. With hard work and my expertise, success is possible regardless of past circumstances. My interventions are grounded in Trauma and Attachment theory and the body-mind connection.

I have a Ph.D. I also have lived experience. I am a survivor of narcissistic abuse, & I understand it at its core, Not just clinically, but personally. I have pulled myself & others out of the dark. That is what we do here. At Random Thoughts Therapy, we offer real talk, real support, & the occasional well-placed sarcasm. Because sometimes the most therapeutic thing you can do is laugh at the sheer absurdity of what you’ve survived. We have a safe space for strong people who need to build resilience. Whether your thoughts are deep/random, your feelings heavy/light, your situation serious or ridiculous, you are welcome here.

Psychotherapy can benefit people facing a range of challenges. Currently, I see adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship or interpersonal difficulties, and sometimes with health/illness issues. I see many people experiencing distress and other symptoms associated with life transitions such as adolescence, marriage, new parenthood or challenges in family planning, divorce, professional or personal role redefinition, retirement, and aging. I provide counseling to individuals and couples struggling with the shifting roles and demands of these complicated times.

Anxieties, insecurity, depression, difficult patterns in relationships or work, and problems maintaining focus can be understood and changed, so you have more energy and confidence to devote to living. Become more connected to yourself and others through a specialized process of exploration with a trained professional, and see a difference in your life. A therapist's expertise and experience are very important, but the key ingredient of effective therapy is a "good fit" between you and your therapist. If you'd like to see how it would be to work together, It would be great to hear from you.

I have special interests in treating sleep and circadian rhythm problems and climate anxiety.
Hello and welcome! I'm a senior clinician (NY, CT and PSYPACT states) treating adults, young adults, teens, couples, and parents via evidence-based methods. I created DBT-based PHP programs at Four Winds Hospital and SAGE, a modular intensive DBT program for emerging adults and their parents, at CBC. I also trained other clinicians in DBT. Today, I use DBT to help people stick to their intentions and goals, rather than feeling controlled by their moods. I draw from DBT and CBT to help patients, parents, and couples improve relationships and face fears. I specialize in helping young adults "launch" and working with their parents.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
