I am also trained through the WPATH to provide gender affirming care to teens and adults.
I help clients who have a long history of trauma, grief, and loss, experience more frequent breakthroughs and sustained improvement in their symptoms using an attachment-based, somatic approach to psychotherapy. As a trauma-informed therapist, I offer a compassionate space where healing begins through connection. My approach, AEDP, is grounded in the belief that lasting change happens not just through insight but through feeling seen, felt and understood in relationship.

I believe the usefulness of therapy lies in the relationship the counselor and client create together. It is there that the client is able to safely explore the challenges of life. Within that relationship, personal strengths are cultivated, while weaknesses are identified and skills developed to inform how best to navigate through one's life fully. I have worked with students struggling under the pressures of academia; couples working to keep a relationship strong; couple's in the midst of separation/divorce; Individuals struggling with depression and anxiety.

We treat couples, people in non-traditional partnerships, adolescents who struggle with emotional and behavioral problems.
The mind, brain, body, and emotions are all interconnected. We believe that the deepest healing nurtures a process of transformation that goes beyond symptom reduction. We are often able to help people who have previously had difficulty making progress in treatment. In our practice we focus on healing intergenerational cycles of traumatization and violence.

Therapy is an opportunity to heal or get help in relationship. I work with individuals who want more than just tools. My goal is to allow for safe, deep, satisfying, and sometimes hard, but always enlivening conversations. My patients therefore hold a special place in my heart. I work with adults and college students who struggle with relationship, identity stressors, dissociation, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I frequently work with clients who have a co-morbid ADHD or Autism diagnosis. In addition to deep work, I can help you define goals and offer targeted treatments. My ideal client longs for life to flow with meaning and purpose, so they no longer feel stuck in suffering or endlessly searching for solutions. They may be in transition, feeling spiritually disconnected, burdened by grief, anxiety, uncertainty, relationship struggles, disordered eating, or weighed down by depression. They come to share their story, revealing the metaphors, symbols, and patterns that shape their life. Together we explore dreams to uncover unconscious patterns, break old cycles and discover their personal spirituality, crafting an art of living that deeply resonates with their soul and brings a sense of fulfillment.

Therapy allows for the opportunity to explore, question, and understand how you engage with yourself and others. My aim is to create a comfortable space to allow you to speak freely. Through this explorative process, I hope to aid in creating understanding towards your personal struggles, wounds, and hesitations. As meaningful insights are gained from reflection I can help you find resolve and see yourself live with less pain.

When working with children or teens, I focus on connecting with your child—often through art and play.
My job is to facilitate the process of change. I am experienced in helping people with problems in personal relationships and at work. Many of my clients are feeling stuck or unsure about something of importance. They may be struggling with parenting, addiction, or feelings of anxiety, irritability, and deep sadness. Some have experienced something tragic that has left them unmoored and are wondering how to rebuild. Often, the people I work with are associated with colleges and universities. My 20+ years of experience in higher education is a resource in my work as a therapist.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
