Has life thrown a curveball at you and/or your family? Or do you continuously struggle with depression and anxiety? Maybe you feel like your life is a viscous cycle of not being able to find what makes you truly happy or constantly critiquing your self-worth. Whatever the circumstances are, you want to improve your overall quality of life and effectively cope with negative life events and/or circumstances. Maybe you have suffered a significant trauma that you would like to process more in-depth or re-build parts of yourself that need to be re-discovered as a result of that trauma.

We all experience some sort of pain, stress, trauma, or adversity in our lives and relationships. When our hearts ache, we search for ways to cope. These initial ways of coping are adaptive in the short term. However, in the longer term, these same coping strategies may hinder further growth and healing. You and I can work together without judgment to dismantle painful experiences and cultivate a strong, empowered, and healthy core sense of self. You can realize your full potential and mobilize into healthy and constructive patterns of thought, behavior, and emotion. Whatever your crux issue is, we can work through it together!

The people I work with are often experiencing some type of psychic pain and want to alleviate it. They may come in because of difficulties with partners, family, friends, work issues, body image, disordered eating, or self esteem concerns. Or possibly, they are having intrapsychic conflicts like anxiety and depression. I help people relieve these symptoms while using therapy to bring joy and satisfaction in their relationships, work, and self-regard, simultaneously helping clients grow to their most fully realized selves.

Something feels off, and you’ve probably known it for a while. Maybe it’s anxiety that won’t quiet down no matter what you try. Maybe you’re carrying something from the past that still shapes your present in ways you can’t quite explain. Or maybe life has changed and the version of yourself that got you here doesn’t seem to be enough anymore. Whatever brought you here, you’re not broken — and you don’t have to figure this out alone.

You lie awake at night, going over the day again and wondering where it all went wrong. Before you have time to figure it out, yet another hectic day has begun. As a parent of a child who has experienced a challenge or traumatic experience, it's like you're being asked to do it all. The problem is that there's never enough energy, time, or information to manage the difficult behaviors. Before you know it, you've seen multiple therapists and nothing seems to work. The parenting suggestions just don't fit the socially awkward tantrums, fits of rage, or your child's need to control. You're nearing the end of your rope, but what's next?

I don’t believe you’re broken or need fixing. Many of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware, yet still feel stuck in anxiety, chronic symptoms, or emotional overwhelm—despite all the tools, therapy, and self-work they’ve tried. I offer a trauma-informed, integrative approach that gently supports reconnection with your body, emotions, and deeper clarity. I view symptoms not as signs of pathology, but as protective patterns—your system’s way of trying to help. Together, we’ll create space to explore what’s happening beneath the surface, soften patterns of fear or overthinking, and release emotional tension held in the body.

My experience ranges from inpatient to outpatient as well as schools and foster homes. I specifically focus on trauma because we all have unresolved things that need to be resolved. I use my sense of humor, most of all, and self-disclosure when I think it will help. I pride myself on trying to make therapy enjoyable. I have been a therapist for almost 20 years and have worked with so many different populations. I love what I do. Because I am a licensed Marriage family and child therapist, I can treat many people.

Clients who are the best fit for me are usually looking to build a life different from what was handed to them. I work joyfully with folks who don't fit in the boxes society creates. This may mean you are hoping to heal from relationships with those who raised you. Or perhaps you are neurodivergent and wanting to figure out how to show up better for yourself in a world that doesn't make a lot of space for how your brain and body work. I'm also here for those who are queer and/or trans who want a therapist that doesn't just accept you, but is with you.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
