I hold the opinion that most challenges to our health come from things that have happened to us in the past. Sometimes people need help processing what has happened to them and understanding how it impacts their life today. I believe that people are generally good and are always striving to live their best life. I like to come alongside someone, in an accepting and curious manner, to help them figure out how to move forward in the most healthful way possible.

I meet with adults across the lifespan as they navigate the transitions, relationships, and challenges that shape our lives. Our work often centers on the roles we carry; as parents, partners, caregivers, adult children, and individuals finding the way through seasons of change, loss, and growth.
Together, we explore big feelings, patterns, and behaviors that make life feel challenging. My approach is person-centered and strengths-based. Therapy offers space to slow down, feel understood, and find a meaningful way forward.

What really keeps people from starting therapy? Maybe it’s the discomfort of having to look at yourself, face hard truths, and do the work change requires. Or maybe it starts long before that, when you’re scrolling through an endless list of therapist profiles, trying to choose the “one,” the one you’ll actually vibe with.
That’s where I come in.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 18 years of experience helping adults and couples navigate the messy, complicated parts of being human.

I specialize in anxiety, chronic relapse, substance use, and unhealthy coping patterns.
I help self-aware adults who feel trapped in survival mode and appear capable on the outside while internally feeling anxious, disconnected, and emotionally exhausted better understand the patterns driving these struggles so they can feel more grounded, authentic, and secure in themselves. Many of my clients feel stuck in repetitive cycles that affect their relationships, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. Together, we work to understand the deeper thoughts, emotions, and behaviors fueling these struggles so meaningful and lasting change can begin.

I work with teens, adults and couples who want space to reflect, get curious and understand what is keeping them stuck. Together, we’ll connect the dots, build practical skills and create change that feels true to you.

I also work with folks who are expressing some concern around their relationship with substance use and ongoing issues that present while making and maintaining desired changes.
Over the past 35 years, I have worked with people struggling with a variety of distressing issues ranging from grief, substance abuse, families impacted by substance abuse, struggles with mood disorders, men's issues and trauma. These issues are pages of our life story. People can feel isolated; the idea of sharing their story with a "stranger" feels too daunting, too personal. I find most clients, in the end, desire to feel more comfortable in their own skin. Identifying behavior patterns and ways we think and feel about ourselves is a huge first step toward making meaningful change.
I currently have 2 openings for a Men's Group.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
