Therapy for Latinx individual who identifies as queer. They grew up in a traditional Latinx household where discussions about mental health were taboo, and expressions of queerness were often met with judgment or rejection. They have experienced various forms of trauma, including discrimination, rejection from family members, and struggles with self-acceptance. They require a therapy environment that is safe, inclusive, and affirming of their intersecting identities as a Latinx and queer individual. They need a therapist who understands the cultural nuances and challenges faced by both community. They need trauma-informed care.

It's disheartening to see a therapist who doesn't get you or your experience. I know how painful it is to feel unseen & misunderstood- especially when seeking help. In traditional therapy you can wind up talking in circles, never getting to the root of the issue, finding no resolution, revelation or change. I listen for what lives beneath your words - attuning to what language can't always capture. I can help you tap into the wisdom of your body & spirit. My name's Vee. I’m a Holistic Psychotherapist, here to help you connect with all parts of you, to align with your values & desires, & to speak your truth & claim your power!

You’ve served faithfully, prayed faithfully, and shown up consistently, but life still hits hard. Now you’re questioning everything: your calling, your identity, even God’s goodness. Maybe you’re still going to church and doing what you “should,” yet you feel broken and unseen. Maybe you’re leading while privately falling apart. You might be asking, “If God loves me, why am I still suffering?”

I'm a therapist and if you are suffering from anxiety, depression, or intrusive negative thoughts that are interfering with your life, there is help available to you. The stress from living can become overwhelming at times. This is not necessarily negative, in fact it is an opportunity for growth. Troubling thoughts and emotions are signs that something in your life is out of balance and needs to be addressed. By seeking help and exploring the patterns in your life, you have the ability to not only lessen your suffering, but to become stronger and more resilient in the process. I hope you seize this opportunity for self improvement.

Spirituality and self-compassion are welcome here too, if that's part of your story.
You're the one people count on — the driven professional, the reliable partner, the person who holds it together so everyone else can fall apart. And you're exhausted. High-functioning anxiety, burnout, and major life transitions have a way of catching up with you, even when you look fine from the outside. You're not looking for a quick fix. You want to actually understand yourself — what drives you, what's draining you, and what a life with more meaning and less performance could feel like. This is a space where you can stop holding it together and start being honest.

I also respect the role of spirituality in healing and utilize Jungian psychology in my work.
Are you at a point in your life where something needs to change? Therapy can help. I believe you have the inner wisdom and capability to heal and my role is to help you nurture that connection with yourself. I use a trauma informed lens to help you learn to understand yourself and where your thoughts, feelings and reactions come from; learn to have more compassion for yourself as a growing human being; and work to heal wounds from your past that fester and resurface in the present.

You wake up in the morning, and already the stress begins. "what ifs" race through your mind at dizzying speeds. You can't turn t off. You begin to feel that familiar sinking feeling in your stomach. The constant negative self-talk never lets up. It’s exhausting! It feels like you have lost touch with your inner compass, your sense of well being. You’ve tried finding a solution through talk therapy, self-help books, yoga, and positive affirmations, but they only give you temporary relief, at best! Is it possible to permanently feel better? Is there something inherently wrong with me that can't be fixed? Don't give up just yet!

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
