Are you and your partner stuck in the same painful conversation - or avoiding it completely? You may be arguing more often, feeling lonely in the relationship, trying to rebuild trust after a rupture, or wondering whether things can really change. Sometimes both partners are ready for therapy. Sometimes one is unsure. Either way, couples therapy can help you interrupt the pattern of conflict between you, rebuild communication, and understand what keeps going wrong — so you can find your way back to each other.

As a professional, I have thirty years of experience helping children and parents.
When children and teens are in crisis, so are their families? Is homework time stressful? Is your child unhappy? Does he/she not have friends? Is the teacher complaining that he/she is not paying attention to the lessons? Are you concerned your child's grades need to improve in order for he/she to be promoted to the next grade level? I help children learn ways to calm themselves so they can better pay attention. Through playing games which may involve math or reading, they begin to feel a sense of success and find learning can be fun.

I hold co- parenting sessions, parenting classes, and therapeutic supervision for families with domestic violence and/or child abuse.
My clients come from an array of different life circumstances and cultural backgrounds; they range in age from 4 to 94, but they share the desire to improve their lives by healing the psychological wounds of trauma. Imagine the shards of a broken glass pane. Our inner core structure shatters in a similar manner. I facilitate my client’s journey toward wholeness by helping them collect, identify, and put those broken pieces back in order. Those with traumatic histories find art making much less confrontational than speaking. And, No! One needs no artistic “talent” to succeed with art therapy. Just a willingness to try

I believe meaningful healing begins when individuals feel truly seen, heard, and understood. I bring over 9 years of mental health counseling experience, along with more than 22 years as a school psychologist, to support individuals navigating stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and emotional overwhelm. My years in education gave me a deep understanding of how emotional wellbeing shapes every part of a person’s life—work, relationships, health, and overall functioning. Witnessing the impact of stress and unaddressed emotional pain is what led me to pursue a career in mental health counseling.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
