Hello, and thank you for reading my profile! Many of my clients are young adults dealing with life stressors, trauma, or anxiety. It's okay to not be sure what you want out of therapy, and to only know that something is wrong. I want you to feel comfortable and confident in therapy, and I believe this is a collaborative process. We will work together to determine goals and the priorities in treatment. I have some clients achieve their goals in less than 10 sessions, and other clients I have seen for years. Length of treatment depends on your goals and I am happy to accommodate long or short term therapy

For over 18 years, I’ve treated anxiety and panic—and supported many people who feel everything so deeply, including those navigating the ups and downs of borderline personality dynamics. I know how scary it can feel to share your thoughts—especially when others offer overly simple fixes and unfair judgements. Not with me. I ask thoughtful questions and genuinely validate your experience. We’ll look closely at what’s happening, find the right words, and let solutions emerge. You’ll become a self-compassionate superstar—a real pro with others and with conflict. Come be my teammate.

The discomfort and pain we experience is often systemic, which is why I believe in creating an environment that feels safe and free from traditional power structures. I do not demonize or criminalize suicidality and my resources for crisis intervention are all explicitly anti-cop. I believe the client is the expert on their own needs and that sometimes we have to work outside the traditional mental healthcare system to affect change. My approach is always trauma-informed. I also provide relationship therapy for couples and polycules, with an emphasis on relationship anarchy and non-traditional dynamics.

You are bright, but you often don't know what you want out of life. You find yourself sad, lonely, sometimes rageful, and often without love. You are not alone. I understand the desire for control, and to 'know what to do.' I understand the fear that nothing will change. But you can change, as many have, and I can help.

Hello and welcome! Therapy is a place to uncover who we are in hopes of moving toward the life we desire. We often assume that we “know ourselves” until some experience calls forth a part of us that we didn’t know existed. These experiences can be scary, overwhelming, and, if handled with care, deliciously transformative. Guiding clients as they encounter their own “opacity” (or that which is emotionally Other), is work that I am honored to do. Using therapies like IFS, ERP, and psychodynamic therapy, I teach clients how to get in touch with their Big Feelings without being swallowed by them.

Navigating your way through life can sometimes feel like facing endless hurdles, a tough inner critic, and a suspicion that everyone else has some guidebook to it all that you never received. You deserve a space that allows you to unpack the heavy stuff, to feel seen and empowered, unmask, and maybe even laugh a little. In our work together, I hope to help you find and embody your most authentic self, show curiosity and compassion to the parts of you that you fear the most, celebrate with you in your growth and achievements, and unlearn/re-author harmful internalized narratives you’ve learned from family, peers, and larger systems.

I offer therapy for adults working with depression, anxiety, body image, disordered eating and eating disorders, trauma, navigating non-binary/gender fluid/ transgender identities, sex and sexuality, and traversing life transitions.
As a therapist I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness, and yoga. Inspired by my own yoga practice I take a holistic approach, striving to integrate the body into talk therapy. I find exploration of somatic experiences to be a doorway into understanding how emotions are stored in, and processed through, the body, mind, and spirit. In sessions I endeavor to create a trauma informed collaborative environment of mutual trust and safety. I follow the lead of the client, believing that the client is the expert of their own experiences.

I am currently an Advanced Clinical Intern undertaking my Master's in Mental Health Counseling. My approach is to create a space of mutual learning. I will aim to understand more about you, your goals, and your narrative, as well as provide guidance in navigating them. Over our sessions, this can look like building and strengthening resiliency, increasing insight, and working towards self-actualization (and many other goal outcomes!). I have a firm belief in the rights and dignity of all people, and I hope to reflect that in our work together.

I am a Gender Queer-identified therapist with over 25 years of experience working with diverse Transgender, Queer, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Gay identified individuals.
I tend to be a good fit for people looking to address trauma, negative beliefs, or taking a big step in life - like starting social/physical transition or becoming an LGBTQ+ parent (I'm a parent too). I frequently use EMDR (an evidence-based treatment) to help clients who feel "stuck," anxious, or looking to resolve painful relationship patterns.

I approach therapy as an active and collaborative process that supports you to connect with your desires. Together, we untangle social and emotional knots: conflicts that take form in your relationships and within yourself. We ask honest questions and pay attention to the connections between what is personally felt and collectively shared. Over time, we attend to the roots of struggles to bring about meaningful change. I work with adults individually and in couples.

It’s important to find a therapist who is just the right fit. Together we’ll create a therapeutic space that is curious and warm with a commitment to creating change in the present by understanding the past. People come to therapy when they are seeking to disrupt patterns in their life: patterns of conflict, of disconnection, of loneliness, and beyond. They want to feel more connected, not only to those around them, but more importantly to themselves. Through interrogating cycles from the past and their manifestations in the present, our work will help build a bridge to new ways of living and being, to new possibility.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
