Experiences of overwhelm, hardship, and imperfections are inevitable aspects of life, and too, they have beautiful qualities. They create atmospheres to understand imbalances and what is essential more deeply, both in ourselves and all those around us. When viewed as entry points to insight and peace, we can begin to feel some relief and sense of possibility. Rather than hindrances, we begin to see stepping stones on a path to greater awareness, healing, stability of mind amidst changing life conditions, compassion for our suffering and that of others, and joy.

You feel ready to take the next step to heal from the past and live a life that makes you proud and joyful. Whether it’s improving your sex life, managing anxiety, wanting to love yourself more, dating and all that comes with it, improving an existing relationship, or (most likely!) a combination of all of those, you need compassionate support. You want to have a deep understanding of yourself and build tools that will help you to make a significant shift in the way you experience life. It’s time to move forward, away from repeated patterns that don’t work for you, and towards empowerment, peace, and healthy relationships.

What is child therapy? Do children sit and talk over their problems like adults do? How do I know if my child needs professional help? And, what kind of therapist is best suited for my child? Most adults have a hard time understanding that children, especially very young children, can be in need of psychotherapy. In my private practice, where I specialize in the treatment of children and adolescents, parents bring children of all ages to me with a variety of reasons for their anxiety or depression. School related issues are quite common. Children who struggle with learning and attention deficit issues are prone to lowered self-esteem, often accompanied by behavior issues at home or in school. These children may also have developed problems making friends. Other children I see are feeling the effects of a transition or loss within the family. This could pertain to an illness, death, separation or divorce of parents, even the result of a parent's depression.

Experience the magic of support!. I believe that within each of us there is a source of wisdom and light that we can tap into by letting go of negative/limiting beliefs and feelings about ourselves. I treat individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, co-dependency, low self esteem, or need guidance to find a new direction in their lives. Depending on what is best for each client, I utilize EMDR, cognitive behavioral technqiues, relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and insight oriented psychotherapy. I am interactive and give feedback during the sessions. I don't believe in just saying "and how do you feel about that".

How can I help you? One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is asking for support. Do you struggle to manage your emotions, navigate relationships, or follow through with goals? Perhaps you engage in self-defeating patterns of thought and behavior. I believe therapy should be a collaborative experience and I promise that I will always be human first. In forming a strong therapeutic alliance, you can have the opportunity to feel seen and understood in a non-judgmental environment.

Sometimes we lack the energy and confidence necessary to move forward in life, engage with others in a meaningful way, and feel joy. The foundation from which we grow and learn shapes us and affects all aspects of our lives including how we participate in the world around us, the way in which we give and receive love, our ideals, hopes, dreams, and our sense of self. My understanding of theoretical concepts and treatment modalities, and my experience working with individuals with varied mental health disorders enable me to support your unique needs. I will give you compassionate care to improve your wellbeing.

Waitlist for new clients
Working with a therapist can be viewed in many ways, but I often like to compare it to shoe shopping; you may get lucky on the first pick, or you might have to try on a few pairs before making the purchase. However, when you find the right fit, it may take you to places you’ve never been before. Choosing a therapist you can trust and feel at ease with can make all the difference by leading to a path of empowerment and growth. We cannot escape or undo the pain of past experiences, but we can explore unaddressed emotions, improve our ability to cope, and manage conflicts that prevent us from finding a peaceful balance.

How would a focus on holistic well-being and personal growth change your life for the better? With a deep commitment to understanding individuals' unique experiences and a background as a registered yoga teacher, I create an empathetic space for exploration and healing.

Do you find yourself wondering “How did I get here?” Life has a way of taking some unexpected (and unwanted) twists and turns that can leave you feeling confused and overwhelmed. You may experience this as anxiety, depression or isolation. Feeling stuck in the past or anxious about the future can impact your mood, your behavior, and your capacity for happiness. “Where do I go from here?” is a powerful question that can open doors to self-awareness and greater happiness. As a trained professional, I can help you explore that question.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
