I work with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders, and I help them make sense of why they feel and respond the way they do. I believe change starts with understanding your patterns, your emotions, and your nervous system. In our work together, we’ll look at what’s happening beneath the surface and build tools that help you feel more steady, more connected, and more in control of your choices. My style is warm, curious, and collaborative, and I tailor therapy to fit you, not the other way around.

Sometimes our lives can seem out of balance. Our relationships may feel strained or stuck. We may notice our thoughts racing. Maybe we are confused about who we are and where we fit in. When this happens, we may turn to unhealthy ways of coping.

My hope as a trauma therapist is to provide a safe and inclusive space where healing and growth can take root. I recognize that past experiences deeply shape the way we see ourselves, others, and the world. With this understanding, I help clients explore the connection between their history and present challenges, creating opportunities for resilience and meaningful change. Work with clients is grounded in an ongoing commitment to decolonizing therapy by critically reflecting on traditional mental health frameworks and fostering a culturally responsive approach that honors each person’s lived experience.

I would like to first start with saying Congratulations to making the first step in prioritizing your mental health! It is a courageous decision to work on ourselves! Therapy can be the beginning of a life changing endeavor for many and it all begins with you. HI! My name is Erin and I, too, have made that same decision in my life to seek better understanding of myself as well as working through challenges that have gotten me “stuck” at times in my life. I share this because I feel it important for my patients to know that my own personal journey allows me to be empathetic and compassionate to patient’s needs and struggles.

Stress and anxiety often get in the way of us leading our best, fulfilling, and most productive, lives. The good news is there are tools and skills that can help individuals work through even the most difficult of times. My goal is to help provide you with these skills and strategies so you can apply them to daily life challenges. If you are experiencing anxiety or a life changing event is causing you distress I can provide you new ways of thinking about how you feel regarding situations and life stages that make them more tolerable. In addition, I work with individuals experiencing, or who are recovering from, narcissistic abuse.

I'm in network for many insurances and bill through Headway for Cigna, BCBS, UHC/Optum, Aetna, and Oscar.
Life can be complex, messy, and difficult to function in. I work with both individuals and couples/families and there is no limit to what kind of issues or goals you can have for therapy. Sometimes things arise in someone's life that seem insurmountable. When talking to friends and family doesn't help it may seem like there is no way through a situation. Speaking to a trained therapist may be the best way to bring about the change you need. This can be difficult and uncomfortable at times but with hard work change is not only possible but inevitable. Anxiety, depression, relationship issues can be treated with strength-based, client-focused treatment.

I welcome the opportunity to work with individuals, couples and families. I enjoy helping couples and families who are experiencing relationship issues and/or conflict to find creative ways to resolve the conflict and strengthen the relationship. I also enjoy working with individuals who have experienced negative life events. Exposure to trauma at an early age often affects our lives as adults in profound ways making it difficult for us to maintain healthy relationships, to cope with stressors in non-destructive ways and to experience a consistent positive self-image.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
