Welcome! As a mental health counselor, I understand the difficulties of taking the first step to seek treatment. Individuals may feel strange talking about aspects of their life they have yet to view and/or process. Our sessions will serve as a safe and judgment-free environment to explore past experiences, current behaviors, and difficulties processing trauma. You will be provided with the ability to explore difficulties in your life and be provided with as much structure as needed to build on skills and make changes. I work to hear the client and ensure interventions are helpful to support growth.

You are anxious, depressed, concerned about a toxic relationship, or life transition. You might have previously tried to manage these feelings by reading inspirational books or social media posts, yet you find yourself stuck, asking yourself, "I have tried so hard. How have I not reached my goals?" Your goal is to master coping skills so you can feel confident with your life decisions, and feel mentally, emotionally, and physically prepared to face life's challenges, rock at that new job, reengage with 'that'
family
member or friend, excel at your current schooling, or explore a new relationship with yourself or with someone else.

During 10 years as a therapist, I have helped individuals and families with issues relating to stress, depression, anxiety, communication,
family
conflicts, and cultural identity.
You deserve to be happy! This is the dream. Reality, however, is a different story. You want to find hope, meaning and purpose in life. Instead, life throws you a curveball. One day you realize that you’re dealing with many different stressors and don’t know what to do about them. There are days when you pretend that everything is fine. Truthfully though, you feel sad, overwhelmed and stuck in a cycle of depression and anxiety, pleasing others instead of you. At times you feel like no one listens to you or understands what you’re going through. However, you’ve decided that it’s finally time to make a positive change in your life.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. ~Maya Angelou Too often we walk through life fearful of telling our real story. But when we tell our story we free ourselves from unhealed wounds. Telling our story helps us to find our strength and recognize our resiliency through difficult times. Emotional well-being is one of the most important parts of an individual's life. Unfortunately it is a part of life that we often forget to take care of. We all deserve to enjoy the lives we live. You are worthy of a life you can enjoy!

I value having an emotionally-sensitive, humanistic and intuitive approach to supporting each
family
I work with.
In Love We Learn provides support for individuals with sensorimotor differences (autism and otherwise), their families, and their team of practitioners. Sensorimotor differences can impact so much. Life is complex, and can become even more so when considering someone living with and experiencing these differences. Families may struggle to find clinicians who can provide fulfilling guidance and support. My clients are looking for someone who can provide a unique perspective to their families' care. They are looking to build an intentional lifestyle around their loved one who is motor-impacted.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
