I practice Marriage Therapy, CBT, and EXRP .
Hello! Starting therapy can be a difficult process, but I am here to make it easier. My clients come to me because they are struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, OCD or depression, and feel like they are stuck and no matter what they have tried they can’t pull themselves out. They leave empowered, with specific tools that reshape how their brain, emotions, and behavior work. My clients understand themselves better than before and therefore begin to find the light at the end of the tunnel. They learn the steps and skills towards a happier, more productive life. I would love to assist you in the same way.

Making the decision to begin therapy is an important step on the journey towards healing. As we navigate what feels like an increasingly complex and fatiguing world, we often find ourselves stuck in behavior patterns or relationships that remove us from important connections in our lives and lead to decision-making that is based on reactions to stress, rather than on our core values. It has been my honor to be a part of so many healing journeys and to support others as they develop a greater compassion for themselves, mindful presence in their lives, and flexibility for making change.

Your child's racing thoughts, nervous stomach and pounding heart is not going away. They are stuck in worried thoughts and behaviors that scare you both. You've read books, talked to friends and googled about anxiety, OCD and anger. It's not helping. Maybe situations like divorce or peer drama have taken a toll on their self esteem. Your once happy kid seems to have lost their confidence. You both want to see their self esteem rise again to feel stronger and more secure in who they are. It can feel overwhelming with so many therapy choices. How do you know you are choosing the best help for your child and your family?

Can’t seem to turn your brain off and stop worrying? Are you constantly overthinking? Are you playing the same events over and over in your mind? Always concerned about saying or doing the right thing? Inside you may be feeling on-edge and nervous, and struggling with doubts and fears can be so tiring, which makes it harder to cope. It can seem like a never-ending cycle where trying to control everything just makes you feel more restless and out of control.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
