Every human being has the right to pursue happiness without being inundated with emotional and behavioral problems. Happiness is not optional but mandatory. Everyone deserves a fulfilling life. To achieve optimal success and happiness, we must maintain emotional health as well as physical health. If we lose this emotional component, physical health is not achievable, and vice versa.

Life can be pretty difficult and overwhelming at times. It may feel like no one is listening to you or understands the struggles you're going through. My goal is to provide a safe, affirming, and non-judgmental space for you to express your emotions and engage in self-exploration. Everyone has their own unique experiences and although I may not understand you completely, I'm willing to do the work and listen to your story. As a 1.5 gen Chinese-American, I can understand some of the unique experiences surrounding bi-cultural identity and values, and family dynamics.

I work with children, individuals & couples. In my work with children I engage them in a non-pressured environment using play & talk therapy as I work with them and their parents to help understand their world, increase awareness, promote effective communication & find meaningful solutions. I do a lot of work with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression or anger to learn to cope and express themselves. I selectively use family & interpersonal dynamics. I use EFT to help couples improve the intimacy and closeness that they crave in their marriage while improving communication and understanding.

Life can be challenging. The journey can be a struggle. There is no reason to travel alone. Working with a counselor can be the beginning. As a retired Police Officer, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals who have experienced anxiety and trauma. My background as a police officer has given me a unique understanding of the challenges and stresses of high-stress jobs and traumatic events. As a lawyer, I have experience navigating the legal system, which can benefit clients affected by legal issues related to their trauma. I believe every client is unique and requires an individualized approach to therapy.

Whether you are struggling with excessive worry or negative thoughts, overwhelmed by schoolwork as a student, supporting a family member with autism or developmental disability, or facing challenges as a member of a marginalized group in society, it is common to feel hopeless and worthless at times. However, you do not have to give in to these feelings. Together, we will overcome obstacles by empowering you, developing strategies for managing negative feelings, improving your self-identity, and gaining a deeper understanding of yourself.

With many challenges in today’s times, it can be difficult to maintain a positive outlook on life. These challenges can be a result from trauma, grieving the loss of a loved one, divorce, family conflict or identity issues. Other stressors can be school performance, loss of employment, suffering from an illness or injury, impacts from COVID-19, or immigration/deportation concerns which can make going through your day-to-day seem like an impossible task. The good thing is that there is help.

Relationships are hard. Parenting is difficult. Feeling good on a day-to-day basis is elusive. I aim in therapy to help family systems attain a more effective level of functioning by delving into the deeper emotions and fears that govern our behaviors. By learning to express our real needs, we become empowered to take control of the relationships in our lives.

Seeking help for mental health challenges can often feel so daunting, what with the pages and pages of therapists and mental health practices that populate with a simple google search. That being said, I am so glad, and so proud, that you have taken that first step in your journey toward fulfillment and wellness.

Hello everyone, please welcome and allow me to first begin in thanking you. The choice to start therapy isn’t always easy, sometimes it is the most difficult thing to do is to even consider it, then admit you want/need it before even taking the steps to start, but you are not alone on this journey. Perhaps there has been times that you have found yourself feeling stressed, down, lacking confidence, or stuck in a pattern that no longer serves you. Perhaps you’re ready to take steps toward changes but feel stuck or unsure where to start. Or even feeling lost in your relationships in life or even disconnected from them.

In a rapidly changing world, one can find it challenging to deal with feeling mad, afraid, sad or even glad! My aim is to help alleviate that pain. I use an integrative approach to understand your life experiences, feelings, and the reason for seeking counsel. I believe each person already has in them the potential to grow. A personal transformation through the process of psychotherapy can help facilitate this growth. Eventually, this will give you a greater understanding of yourself, others and the world around you.

Have you tried learning strategies and tools to help you manage better, but you have been frustratingly unsuccessful ? My specialties revolve around helping transcend emotional blocks, which enables you to manage stress and use tools and strategies effectively. You then enjoy the intrinsic love and joy of life. Sometimes there are roadblocks that need to be removed or wounds that need to be healed before you can proceed. We can even make roadblocks into steppingstones! Anxiety, depression, impulsivity, trauma whatever it is. Don't let it define you. Let's define it, understand what it means for you and how to get to the good stuff.

Male Therapists
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
