Having gone through trauma, I struggled with PTSD, depression , and anxiety.
Life can be messy and complex, and sometimes we need some help navigating it. Whether you are struggling to make sense of life, feel like it's out of control at the moment, or feel like something is missing. Maybe you are stressed, struggling with depression , anxiety, or trauma? Whatever may be bringing you here, I can assure you therapy can help. I believe that the therapeutic process is an opportunity for individuals to create a place just for them where they can discuss their concerns openly without judgment. Together we create a space to explore who they are, where they have been, and where they want to go next.

Together we will calm your anxious mind, alleviate depression , increase self-awareness, identify strengths and empower you to move your life in a more positive direction.
It is easy to become overwhelmed by the sadness, anger, or anxiety we experience. During these times we often feel uncertain and insecure. My goal is to help you find balance and to restore a sense of control and inner strength. I believe it is important to listen and to be supportive as well as to provide guidance as you explore where you have been, where you are and where you hope to go. I believe it is important for you to set realistic and reasonable expectations of yourself as well as others. And to develop the communication skills that will allow you to share your thoughts and feelings in healthy and appropriate ways.

My clients are people who are typically having an extremely difficult time facing their life stressors. This can manifest itself by symptoms of anxiety, depression , unhealthy patterns in thinking or behaviors and unhealthy lifestyle choices. Oftentimes the different roles we play within our lives becomes affected and our relationships suffer. I help my clients navigate through their stress by helping them learn healthier ways of coping, and understanding how their mental health can be affected by numerous factors, including eating habits and diet. I aim to treat the mind, body, and spirit.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression , avoidance, interpersonal challenges, or something more specific, I believe we will build a therapeutic relationship that will help provide you with tools to help you evolve and grow past our work together.
After an eleven-year career working with adolescents and young adults as a teacher and basketball coach, I made the conscious decision to apply those experiences towards the path of becoming a licensed social worker. Adolescence is, in many ways, messy. Continuing to delve into that messiness with clients seemed to be the most natural next step in my career. I believe that each person’s story is unique and worthy of being told, and I aim to support clients in making meaning of their stories as we work together.

Mental health symptoms can exert a painfully strong hold on our lives and take an exhaustive toll. Symptoms can range from anxiety or depression , to a sense of being stuck, to reactions stemming from current circumstances or one’s life history. My practice is guided by the principal that you and I working collaboratively, engaged in a project of speaking and listening—being curious about one’s inner world—can have a significant impact on one’s symptoms. While this practice focuses on reducing suffering it also seeks to produce change.

While my specialty is the treatment of anxiety, I also work with children, teens and young adults struggling with depression , ADHD, peer problems and disruptive behavior.
Anxiety looks different in every child, but no matter what form it takes, it can be excruciating for both the child and the parent. Whether your child withdraws to their room and won’t talk, gets angry and refuses to make an effort, works three times as hard as any other child and still feels inadequate, or seems to need you so much they can’t function on their own, knowing how to help is so hard. The good news is that no matter what anxiety looks like on the surface, there are evidence-based treatments that can really help.

I treat depression , anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, anger, family conflict and trauma.
Is your child or teen struggling with anxiety? Moodiness? Simply putting words to their thoughts and big feelings? Are they having difficulty navigating their social world? Perhaps the communication barrier between you is deepening along with your concerns. As a loving parent, you want to help your child be the happiest, healthiest version of themselves, but sometimes just getting through the day without conflict or hurt feelings seems impossible. Using evidence-based practices, I can help you and your teen communicate better, teach important coping skills and provide a safe, compassionate place to deal with difficult issues.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
