In the last few years, we have all had to manage our lives in addition to the added stress and anxiety brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic. From my 10 years of experience working in residential, outpatient therapy clinics, and lastly, nursing homes during COVID-19, it became clear to me that this pandemic was going to lead to an additional crisis. A mental health crisis. So many have felt the need to be strong and carry on and now that we are moving forward, the mental health toll remains. I started this telehealth private practice in order to provide psychotherapy services to all those who need it and to provide easy access.

I believe there is strength to be found in our weaknesses, love to be found through our pain, and light after our darkest days. The pain of healing comes with the self-awareness that otherwise may be over looked. When it becomes more painful to stay in our past then it is scary to step out of it is when the journey begins. I walk beside my clients, not in-front or behind. I remain steady and follow their lead. I provide the safety and hope that everyone needs to face their pain, to feel their pain, and to keep going anyway.

I use EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS) with parts and inner child healing, the trauma NMT model, Brainspotting Phase I, attachment-based frameworks such as ARC and officially recognized adoption competency framework TAC.
You may experience pain & discomfort and may not know how to work through it all. You desire emotional well-being, healing from trauma & inner peace. Achieving your goals can look like: using effective coping skills when in distress, overcoming grief and pain, having healthier relationships and healing your “inner child”. As a minority identifying therapist & child of immigrants, my lived experiences help me connect with my clients on a deeper level. As a client, you can expect to better balance your relationships (with Self and others). You are deserving of validation, empowerment & empathy.

Life can bring uncertainty and pain that we need help to navigate and heal from. Are you feeling unhappy or lost? Having relationship difficulties? Worried about the future? Have you endured great losses or hardships that are leaving you feeling confused, isolated or unlovable? You do not have to shoulder this alone. Maybe you want to feel fulfilled or joyful. Maybe you want to cultivate meaningful relationships. Maybe you want to grow in ways you never thought possible. I am passionate about helping people put the pieces of themselves back together in a way that leaves them feeling inspired and open to life's possibilities.

Modalities used include Mindfulness-Based, DBT, Relational, CBT, Narrative, Attachment-Based, Motivational Interviewing, and elements of Somatic Experiencing, IFS, and ACT.
Life can be hard but it can also be beautiful. I utilize a compassionate and integrative approach to psychotherapy. I seek to help clients generate positive change in their lives and am a believer in the mind-body connection, the power of our thoughts and narratives, and that our environment and life experiences greatly impact our lives. I believe that through developing self-awareness and insight we can better understand who we are and what holds us back. I integrate modalities that include our somatic experience, the acceptance/change dialectic, and use a combination of both psychodynamic theory and skills-based behavior therapy.

I am a cognitive behavioral therapist, but I incorporate relational and attachment-based elements into therapy.
I believe that we are primarily social beings and that our relationships, past and present, continuously impact our growth as individuals. Humans are highly resilient, and we tend to persevere through negative experiences. However, certain relationships can have long-lasting negative consequences on how we see ourselves and engage with the people in our lives. When this happens, people often find themselves in a dysfunctional and frustrating pattern of maladaptive thinking and behavior that results in persistent interpersonal struggles.

I also draw from social justice, feminist, attachment-based, traditional Eastern philosophy, and mindfulness modalities.
I fundamentally believe in the connection between the mind and body, and work from a client-centered, somatic approach. Through therapy, we'll explore your history, nervous system, and relationship to your body. With intentional work, we'll get a better understanding of your unique experience, patterns that your nervous system engages in, and how to learn and unlearn new ways of knowing.

I use various effective therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Health at Every Size, and Trauma-Focused Treatment.
Do you feel lost and stuck in your life or relationships? Do you find it hard to move on from your past mistakes? Has depression and anxiety caused you to miss out on the life you want to live? Do you look in the mirror and not recognize the person looking back at you? Life can be very unpredictable, causing us to question our life decisions. Unfortunately, many people come to a point where they want to let go of the pain of their past but become lost in finding the motivation to take the first step. We will work through how significant events in your life have shaped how you see yourself and the world around you.

I also have experience integrating narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and exploratory and attachment-based interventions to improve trauma-related symptoms.
Have you ever wondered why you think, feel, and act in the ways that you do? Are you interested in developing a greater understanding of yourself and learning strategies to help you feel better? If you answered ‘yes’ to either of these questions, you’re in the right place. Being curious about ourselves and others is a central focus of therapy. In gaining greater understanding and compassion for ourselves we can change our patterns of thinking, reduce distressing emotions, and interact in healthier ways with the world around us.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
