Do you find yourself feeling “stuck”? Repeating the same mistakes over and over again, especially when it comes to your relationships with other people? Unfortunately, when childhood traumas go unresolved, we often find ourselves repeating the patterns of our childhood in our adult relationships with friends, co-workers and significant others. Unresolved trauma effects not just our thoughts and feelings about ourselves, but also how we respond to others.

Life can be hard at times and it can leave you feeling stuck and hopeless, but there is hope. I believe you deserve to live a life in which you are thriving instead of surviving. I can help you begin to understand, transform, and heal your pain so that you can live a fulfilling and meaningful life. One of the bravest things we can do is to begin to understand ourselves and you don’t have to go on that journey alone. I will provide a compassionate and nonjudgmental space to foster your healing journey. “When we have the courage to walk into our story and own it, we get to write the ending” -Brene Brown

Many of us undergo difficult, painful, and traumatic events in our lives – things that are not only painful while we experience them, but that have a way of sticking to us long after the fact. When the residual impact of these events follows us around, it can create a lot of fear and discomfort, making us lose touch with who we really are. This often manifests in feeling stuck in unwanted patterns of behavior, difficult feelings, and negative beliefs about ourselves. These things can be very hard to deal with when other people don’t understand. I specialize in understanding these issues and how they affect us.

My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and systemic.
You're here because something feels off—distance in a relationship that used to feel close, tension with family that leaves you drained, or the weight of expectations that don't quite fit who you are. Maybe you're navigating broken trust, or you're stretched thin trying to be everything for everyone. You might not have all the words for it yet, and that's okay. What you do know is that you're looking for clarity, deeper connection, and support that honors your experience. You're ready for sustainable, practical ways forward.

Therapy is the gentle, intricate process of restoring parts of yourself that you are struggling with. While we do not get to choose how our life experiences or suffering affects us, we have the power to overcome and grow - even when we least expect it. If you have been struggling to feel like yourself and perhaps identify with hopelessness, anxiousness and preferring to isolate, there is a way through these difficult symptoms. I offer interventions to teens, adults, couples and families seeking guidance to improve emotional, mental and behavioral aspects of their lives.

Taking time for yourself is hard. Seeking help is even harder. I entered this field after witnessing a family member share about his time in Vietnam. Each person I talk to, no matter the topic, I am grateful that you are willing to share a piece of your life with me. I aim to be a safe place where you can set the weight of the world down for a moment, and catch your breath. I have worked in emergency mental health, debriefing with grieving families after tragically losing a loved one, and been there to be an intensive case manager once someone is learning to live with new information of a diagnosis.

Emotions come in all sizes. Sometimes it is hard to even name the emotions we are feeling. Whatever it is that brings you here today, I want to normalize how you are feeling. It is my goal to help you name and process those emotions, together in a therapeutic way. I strive to create a safe, non judgemental space to heal and grow into the 'you' you want to be. I understand that reaching out can be frightening, and making the decision to enter therapy shows a lot of strength. I would like to help make this transition as smooth as possible.

Being human is so hard. If you're not anxious, you're exhausted. And can we talk about the off-brand crankiness you feel so guilty about? I know you wish you weren’t, but you’re sensitive. You're sensitive and therefore easily hurt, but you're also sensitive to the needs of others... and you can't turn it off, so you struggle to know what your own needs and boundaries are, let alone meet them. I know because I've been there. As a neurodivergent therapist, I understand from the inside-out and I can help you make sense of yourself, too. AND I can help you actually do something about the way you feel.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
