Everyone can benefit from having a trusting relationship and receiving validation. From that basis, in a non-judgmental interaction people can begin to get clarity on their wants and needs. From enhancing self-esteem to setting boundaries and resolving anxiety/depression people can change.

Stress comes in many shades, regardless of what we face, with no discrepancies of importance, changing how we feel begins with changing our perspective. I aim to guide you through these life challenges and rebuild the mindset that these negative encounters have influenced.

Prioritizing your health, both physical and mental, is a sign of strength. I have spent the majority of my career working with survivors of various traumas and felt honored to observe the dedication of my clients to live the fulfilling and healthy life they deserve. I can support you in identifying these trends, processing the underlying causes, and ending unhealthy habits. You can do this; I can help.

If you’re frustrated having spent lots of time and money on quick fix programs that promised the world, I get it. Life is messy and uncertain. Does it seem like many of the ways you feel inadequate are hard to hide, especially from yourself? What’s holding you back? Are you trying to improve or leave difficult relationships? Are you stressed and want to overcome the hidden affects of trauma and family secrets? If you answered yes, often the answers are in the shadows. When you shine light on your darkness, anxiety and not feeling enough recede. Then you can reclaim your confidence having a vibrant and fulfilling life.

Life unfolds in moments—some tender, some turbulent, all meaningful. When someone tells me they’re taking it day by day, I gently offer this: try moment by moment. Because so much can shift in a single breath. I’m a licensed therapist and life coach. For over 20 years, I’ve walked alongside individuals on their healing journeys—helping them move through self-imposed blockages and toward the life they deeply desire.

I aim to provide exceptional psychotherapy services and reach individuals in a unique way. Many times, it can be difficult to put into words what is bothering us or find the root cause of our difficult feelings. Art making in sessions is used as a vessel, and not always necessary during sessions. When words fail us, we can explore art together to see what comes up for you. I am now offering yoga and art therapy sessions to offer a full embodied experience, opening with yoga asana, meditation, art creation and finally process your experience together. Please refer to my website for more information if interested!

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
