Everyone can benefit from having a trusting relationship and receiving validation. From that basis, in a non-judgmental interaction people can begin to get clarity on their wants and needs. From enhancing self-esteem to setting boundaries and resolving anxiety/depression people can change.

Far too often we suffer in silence. Perhaps you feel misunderstood, or feel unable to commute what think & feel. No one knows your secret, that something is “wrong”. You try to devise a plan to feel better. Trying to prioritize your needs & make positive changes. You start reading self-help literature, or start exercising. But nothing seems to help & life starts to feel unmanageable .Getting through each day becomes a challenge. "No man is an island". Therapy can be the life line you need most during times of need. You no longer have to do this alone. You're ready to quiet the inner critic and ready to find your happiness again.

My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and utilizes evidence-based practices including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness tailored to the needs of each client.
The most important step one can take, is the next one. I am continually inspired by the brain's remarkable ability to adapt, heal, and grow- a concept known as neuroplasticity. Even in the face of trauma, loss, anxiety, depression, and uncertainty in life transitions, our minds and bodies are wired for resilience. As a therapist, I believe deeply in each individual's ability to take the next step, no matter how uncertain the path ahead may seem.

For adults, I use mindfulness and CBT.
A major need that children, adolescents, and adults are facing now is how to navigate life throughout this pandemic. As a therapist, I meet where the client is at. I work to build a positive and safe rapport. I utilize the multi-dimensional approach which focuses on how every aspect of an individual’s life is impacted. From the person to their family, friendships and peers, school and/or work environment, to their community, and what is going on in the world. Often many times we are impaired by our lack of coping and adjusting. I assist in exploring and developing ways someone can cope healthier with difficult life circumstances.

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are. -Carl Yung It is hard when you're told by other people you have so much in life to happy about, but you can't really feel it for yourself. Laying in bed often wondering, "Could I do more?", "Am I enough?", and "Why does it seem like I am missing something?". Asking yourself about these kinds of things are actually brave and courageous thoughts! Many times we feel alone or are afraid to share what we think and feel because no-one wants to be judged or ridiculed. To trust someone with our inner most thoughts and feelings, must be respected and protected.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background in psychology, I specialize in mindfulness, acceptance, and psychological flexibility.
We build our lives through a series of decisions and the illusion that we are in complete control. When our intention is to live a meaningful and fulfilling life, unexpected and extremely challenging circumstances often get in the way and it can feel impossible to find your way out. I want you to know that it absolutely is possible to make it to the other side and you don’t have to make that journey alone. We all find ourselves out of balance at times and could use a calm safe space to explore that. A strong therapist/client relationship is the cornerstone in making effective change while providing the utmost support to the client.

I help clients build emotional regulation, self-worth, and effective communication through CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and play therapy.
My ideal client is someone who feels consumed by their thoughts and emotions—whether that’s a child learning to manage big feelings, a teen struggling with identity, perfectionism, or peer pressure, or an adult coping with anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, or transitions. They may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. What they want most is to feel understood, confident, and capable of handling life’s challenges. They’re seeking tools to calm their mind, improve communication, and nurture self-compassion so they can move through life’s ups and downs with greater ease, balance, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
