My work has involved extensive experience in bereavement, addiction, and trauma resolution.
Everyone can benefit from having a trusting relationship and receiving validation. From that basis, in a non-judgmental interaction people can begin to get clarity on their wants and needs. From enhancing self-esteem to setting boundaries and resolving anxiety/depression people can change.

Stress comes in many shades, regardless of what we face, with no discrepancies of importance, changing how we feel begins with changing our perspective. I aim to guide you through these life challenges and rebuild the mindset that these negative encounters have influenced.

In my opinion, people's biggest fear is vulnerability (you know, "putting it out there"). Often, we refrain from expressing ourselves because we are never certain how we will be perceived. (Am I the only one feeling this way?!) Therapy should be a forum in which you can comfortably express ideas and concerns and be assured that you are not offending anyone, being judged, looked at oddly, recorded, or subject to the ramifications that often are the result of "confiding" in someone you know. I welcome the opportunity to help you unload the "stuff" that has been on your mind...

Some examples might be a change in the family, a medical issue, a career challenge, a loss, a trauma past or present, a decision that needs to be made, elder care or caregiving issues.
I provide a safe environment for you to come in and talk honestly about what you are going through. I am a good listener and together we can explore solutions that help you to take charge of your life again. Therapy can be an important tool in managing the stress that comes from changes in our lives. Being uncomfortable in a crisis can be the fuel that you need to make a change. Maybe you have considered counseling for a while, but haven't taken the first step. Your situation may demand it now.

Whether you're struggling with caregiver stress, grief, depression, anxiety or other challenges, I offer personalized therapy sessions tailored to your unique needs.
We aren't born knowing how to be caregivers, nor may we ever fully anticipate the challenges of the role. Many of us don’t even recognize that we are caregivers - we see ourselves simply as daughters, sons, spouses, or family members doing what needs to be done. We might feel joy in caring for a loved one or resentment for looking after someone who never cared for us. Regardless, we may feel like we are not doing enough to take care of our family member and often worry that no matter what we do, it will never be enough.

Together, we'll uncover what's beneath the stress — whether it's grief, trauma, anxiety, or life transitions — and find ways to move forward with more clarity, balance, and hope.
Creating a life of purpose and joy is possible with the right support. For more than 25 years, I have had the privilege of supporting people of all ages as they navigated through the challenges they faced. I love what I do, and I am passionate about helping people move through their most difficult times, helping them to find meaning in their lives and connection in their relationships. In order to help more people, I formed a group practice of talented and compassionate like-minded therapists, each with their own unique style and set of skills, and a passion for helping others. My group practice is called Positive Therapy 4U.

As a grief and trauma therapist, I believe that combining techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) can be effective at overcoming distressing beliefs and processing trauma-related symptoms.
The challenges of life often leave us feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, or frustrated. Sometimes handling things on our own isn't enough. Therapy can help you gain insight into the root causes of distressing emotions and learn how to manage them.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
